Lovin' the High Tech

I had a chance to use several features of the Overland yesterday during a 60 mile highway trip which started with showers and dried up afterwards. Thought I'd post my reviews for anyone interested.

Rain Sensing Wipers: Worked surprisingly well. They turn on and adjust speed automatically depending on how hard it rains. As the wiper speed increases or decreases, the headlights turn on or off accordingly. The Nav screen backlighting must be synced with the headlights because the screen darkens when the lights are on. There is an override for this in the Nav options.

ACC: After the rain stopped I tried this for the first time and was very much impressed at how well this system works. It functions exactly as explained in the manual. I used setting #3 and found it to be just right for traffic conditions. No herky jerky motion. Smooth acceleration and deceleration.

Blind Spot Monitoring: This system also functioned flawlessly. The triangular lights in the mirrors are noticeable, but not distracting. I didn't turn on the signal while the light was on for fear of startling the drivers I was passing, so I didn't get to hear the warning signal. I'll reserve that test for a parking lot or standing situation.

Navigation: The female voice is pleasant most of the time but I'm surprised there aren't additional voice choices. When approaching an intersection where the name of the street you are on changes on the other side, the system apparently can't deal with that so it just says "Continue on --- road", omitting the name. While on the route I attempted to voice enter a point of interest (convenience store) by name. After two tries, the renowned Village Inn filled the screen.

Uconnect Phone: My phone is paired and the contacts are in the system but it dropped a call yesterday. I believe it is a problem with the phone compatibility so I may have to get a new one.

So far, I'm loving everything about this GC and haven't experienced any of the other problems mentioned around here. I'm sure some issues will come up, but overall, Chrysler has done a great job with this vehicle.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't know how I survived all those years without the high tech options... ... I do remember AC being a luxury that few cars had... how did we ever get anywhere?

You can also correct this with the panel dimmer switch. There is a daytime - headlamps on position; nav in day function and brighter dashlight.
