2012 - Finding Lowest Purchase Price

After completing enough due diligence to require beverage therapy I have ordered a 2012 deep cherry red Laredo X with the 5.7 hemi, towing package and 430N media center paying $300 below invoice and to be delivered with a full tank of gas.

For invoice/msrp pricing I found NADA guides (http://www.nadaguides.com/) to exactly match dealer provided data.

For purchase I used the AAA Auto Buying Program (http://aaaeastcentral.zag.com/main.h..._id=ZAISEC0009) to specify my choice then find participating dealer guaranteed AAA pricing from those within a 75 mile radius of my zip code. Two local dealers offered invoice pricing and a 3rd, 50 mile distance, offered $300 below invoice. Note, the AAA pricing had some minor errors, ie towing package but the dealer AAA invoice based offers were accurate.

Without having to visit the dealer I bought from the 3rd (Transitowne Dodge Chrysler Jeep - Williamsville, NY) emailing copies of required documentation and completing my order via the phone. Delivery is estimated in 6-8 weeks.

Bottom line - worked for me - minimal hassel and excellent price.

If any of you in the western NY neighborhood are considering, I would highly recommend Transitowne and sales represenative Tim Loughran. I offered to purchase from either of the two local dealers if they would match the Transitowne deal. Both replied they would review and get back to me. No response after 7-10 days thus my order with Transitowne. Note AAA pricing indicated it applied only for on lot vehicles but Transitowne allowed me to place a factory order.

If you do buy from Transitowne use me - falcon_o aka Charlie - as a referral which will provide some referral $$ to help feed the 5.7 !!!!

Is $300 below invoice considered a good deal though? I searched the stock of some dealers near me online, found an Overland with the color and options I like and just by submitting an email request to a dealer, he quoted me $848 below invoice for a 2012 Overland. Granted, he has the Jeep in stock and won't have to order it. I didn't actually buy it either, I am holding out for a little more off invoice or some good financing deals.

MSRP: $43,820, INVOICE: $41,251, EMAIL QUOTE: $40,403

I preordered a 2012 overland v8 with the off road adventure package. MSRP is 47,010, invoice is 44,091. my price, invoice less 1,200 or 42,891.

Please note, its not a done deal. i preordered the car, left a deposit, have all the appropriate paperwork confirming everything, but have not received the car. I expect the deal to close at the price we agreed upon, but you never know...

Mine was based on the (Tread Lightly affiliate pricing) 1% under invoice for a Summit. Not a bad deal and helped out a pretty cool organization too.
Bottom Line is correct Charlie, if you are happy with it that is all that matters.

Keep in mind. It is not all about what others have received the same car for, but how you feel you made out in the end. As long as you are happy with the car and your experience that is all that matters.

i agree...and when you are taking @40k for a vehicle, an extra 500 or so dollars makes no difference in the end, especially if you are financing a good portion. I had such a miserable experience trying to purchase my vehicle at one dealership, i actually went to their competitor instead, even though they were a few hundred dollars more...having an easy hassle free experience is certainly worth something on the bottom end...

2012s can be had in my area{Tri State area} for at least 1000 -1500 under invoice quite easily.

Re: 2012 - Finding Lowest Purchase Price

A lower cost would have been welcome but in my area $300 below invoice was the best I could manage. As noted, several local AAA affiliated dealers would not match the offer and when I contacted other local, non-AAA affiliated dealers they also balked.

So - could I have bought for less elsewhere - probably. But I am still happy with the price I will pay and the excellent dealer experience.

If your numbers for Invoice and email quote are correct, that's only $374 below invoice.
