Etching

So I have big plans. To start with I am planning on Reenlisting in the Navy and hoping for a reenlistment bonus(crossing my fingers). If that happens I am hoping for some extra cash for some mods... its been a long time coming. So on that note I am planning a sub box amp enclosure similar to TimmyB's amps and I'm using Matt's sub enclosure( Dual 12's instead of 1 10). So moving on the Amp enclosure I want to have a Plexiglass cover over it, with Jeep etched in it. I will have blue LED's back lighting it and I believe it will come out really nice. So my question is has anyone ever done etching on Plexiglass? what is the best way to go about this? any help is appreciated. This projected is just in the planning stages now, I am on yet another deployment my 4th after being in the navy only 5 year but it comes with the job. Thanks guys

Re: Etching

Etching plexi is a hard skill to manage and fairly expensive to have done by someone else.

In the passed, i've a few different things, also depending on how you want to light up the logo.
Get a vinyl sticker, Have the plexi softly sandblasted to greated a frosted appearance, when you remove the sticker, the Jeep will be clear leaving the rest a nice frosted appearance. (if you want jeep frosted, you'd get a vinyl sheet withe jeep cut out. Also, put it as a mirror image, that way, when you actually mount the plexi for the finished product, the side thats accessable and visable is completly 100% smooth as glass.

Re: Etching

Just take the plexi to someone with a CNC, it's a pretty simple task for someone with the right tools.

Im stationed at Mayport right now well besides being deployed but i like Jax its nicer than Norfolk but during the summer it can get unbearable but as long as u have friends with pools or just go to the beach. one thing about Jax tho is it is huge getting from one side to the other can take you and hour or more. but when are you up for orders, this whole PTS and Reenlisting is killing me right now.
