Spanking new RHR losing all memories

Had our new 2012 Overland for just over 24 hours, and from the get-go it has been losing all memories: presets, home address and such. They enter fine, and an hour or two later they're still there. But three or four hours later every memory is gone, poof. This happened yesterday after we bought it, again around noon today, and yet again this evening. So it's not a one-up thing.

On the face of it, this seems like a bad memory card or related hardware issue. But perhaps it is yet another of the software glitches for which the RHR has become notorious.

Is this a known issue? Suggestions?

I had mine do this once too. It seemed fine for a few days, then I got in and all my sat radio presets were gone. I am using the same key as usual, so I know it isn't RKE memory.

My Team favorites have been reloaded 3X now

Welcome to the bleeding edge... Mine has done it 4 times with 4500 miles. We probably have to wait for an update.

Thanks for the swift, helpful feedback, gents -- really appreciated. I can now go to the dealer and point out this is not just a one-up problem, and hopefully they in turn can squeeze Chrysler to get Alpine or whoever off their duffs to fix these bugs.

I've reloaded some presets again and will check in the morning to see if they're still there. If the problem is consistent, I'll go to the dealer Monday. If it's erratic, I may go anyway just to put some fire on Chrysler's backside. If they aren't forced to replace units, they'll have little incentive to remedy the problem with a TSB.

Thanks to JG, I've long known that the WK2 has more than its share of reliability issues. So no surprise that the game plan has to be to fix problems one at a time until all is well, then sit back and enjoy one great truck. Granted we've owned it for only 36 hours and 60 miles, but other than vanishing RHR memories (perhaps it was designed in a nursing home:D) and a wrinkle in one seat, everything including QL seems to be okay. The cherry red looks great, BTW.

It's like the guy who once wrote in Soldier of Fortune that in a Balkan enclave the women either had teeth and mustaches, or no teeth and no mustaches. Few WK2s seem to have teeth and no mustaches.

It seems losing home is a common quirk but losing all presets is relatively rare. Someone mentioned that every time they enter an out of state destination some presets get lost.

The RHR radio certainly has some quirks. On mine, the POI search by voice command doesn't function properly. Manual entry works fine. I haven't had any memory loss so far. I'm sure there will be firmware updates released to address these issues as soon as they figure out what is causing them. It could be much worse. You could own an Explorer. :p

The Explorer is so boring that when we test drove one we almost fell asleep.

BTW, you have exactly the configuration we do. Love it, radio quirks and all!

I too will agree the RHR is far from perfect! From day one, all kinds of weird/strange behavior! Personally, I wouldn't have the dealer mess with it at this point. Probably won't be able to correct anything anyway.

I gave up saving any presets on the RHR. Nothing keeps more than a couple days.

Agree (sigh). Obviously our radio has the usual bugs, as on day one the memories vanished time and again, whereas on day two they are holding -- similar to other people's experiences. I just hope they get out a TSB on this and don't upgrade to a new version, like say an "RHS," and leave us RHR owners stuck with all these glitches.

At least it functions properly when the memories don't wipe out. Uconnect bluetooth works fine, too. But Alpine (?) is slower than molasses in Alaska in tweaking the code. This should take days or weeks, user testing and all, not several months or more.

Well alpine needs to test all the new bugs that they have to throw in since they are fixing the old one. Quality assurance is tough when proving out bugs...making them inconsistent and all.... :)
