Why won't it work? They should be sanded to prep which will smooth them out.

Has anyone painted them yet? It can be done, i did it on my 2003 G35 Sedan, they sand them (800-1000 grit). Then they use an adhesion promoter to help they paint stick to the plastic. Then they shoot paint, and clear coat.

I really want to paint the molding on my Stone White Laredo-X, just wondering if anyone else has done it yet?

I think it would look good on the lower skirts and fenders, but the front and rear bumpers would look weird painted (especially the front) They were not designed IMO to be painted. So with my case there is no good place to stop the paint.

I got a estamate from a shop here in Chicago for $500 for all 10 pieces on the truck, what do you guys think on the price ?

Re: lower trim

the best quote i got was $1200 for everything plus there would be no warranty on their work because these arent "paintable" pieces. still cant decide if i want to do it or not.

Re: lower trim

$500 seems like a fair price. Most shops will not give warranty since its plastic, just make sure its a good shop. The main thing is the prep job, if they prep it right it will last, if not it will start peeling pretty quickly.

Im thinking about prepping them myself and having a shop shoot a base and clear coat. This will save $ too since prep will take more time then the painting.
