No sound on right front speakers

I installed new front door speakers on my 98 zj with the infinity sound and the right front door and dash speakers are not working,I adjusted the fader but no response, i checked the connections on the amp and on the back of the radio and all seems ok, i even switched speakers and they are fine. Do you think the amp could be bad or something else? Thanks

Couple things to check for. Start at at the speaker and work your way back. Take a DMM and set it to Ohms. Start at the speaker and work your way back to the output of the infinity amp. If you dont get a reading at the amp, you can guarentee the issue is between the Amp and the Speaker, not the amp and the radio.

Another thing to check would be A/C voltage. Youre stereo puts out sound in the form of A/C Voltage, meter your inputs and outputs on the amp. Get a baseline from a working speaker. You'll notice your Voltage rail increase and decrease steadily with the volume control.

Lastly, i'd actually put money on this, jeeps have a nasty little habit of breaking the lines going into the door. I've seen installers put speakers in, everything works before hand, but afterwards they tugged just a hair to hard on the speaker leads and snapped the little bit that was left holding them together. If you meter at the speaker and get 4 ohms, meter your speaker lines right before they enter into the door boot, somewhere along the kickpanel. I can't tell you how many times i've had to repair/replace speaker lines in jeeps because of the wires snapping over normal wear.

HE IS 100% CORRECT. i would put money on it that the line is broken somewhere. I have over 10years of car audio installation experience and id say 90% of the time when i do a speaker install in a Jeep from 2001 and older it turns out to be the factory speaker line needing to be bypassed and replaced. Sucks, but it is what it is.

You can easily google the wiring pinout for the stock infinity amp. I would take a test speaker and check the output at the amp to make 100% sure that its not your amp. But like i said, most likely its the stock wiring.

Is it hard to check and see if the speaker wire is broke or undone on my 2001 Jeep Sport. I'm a little afraid to take the door panel off to see. Is that what I would have to do?
