I need to replace a 4.7 HO in 2002 GC "OVERLAND".

I placed an ad on Craigs List for an engine, no luck yet, BUT did receive an interesting phone call.

A caller said he also had had to replace an engine, (albeit not an HO engine), and was told there were TWO DIFFERENT tooth-gears. (I assume the flywheel/transmission, but NOT SURE)

He specifically mentioned 26 vs 32, and to be careful that I get a "correct" engine.

Does anyone know anything about this ... AND ... does this precaution also apply to "HO" engine ???

They are currently available on E-bay, but don't want to spend the shipping and installation if it is the wrong match.

As long as you get a HO engine the tone ring teeth count won't be an issue. All HOs are the same in a WJ.

Yep, while I dont know the details off the top of my head there are two different tone rings as mentioned dependant on what pcm is used.

I believe he is referring to the TONE wheels. The older 4.7's and the 4.7HO that have the JTEC PCM (16 tooth tone wheel)and the newer 4.7's have the NGC PCM (32 tooth tone wheel).

it is used to keep the fuel and ignition timing in sync between the crank and cams.
