Transmisson drops to neutral - power off solution?

Wrangler 2005, 6cyl, 50k miles, automatic. My daughter had the jeep, said it started reving while driving, had to stop, park, turn off. Happened twice, only when pulling out of parking lot. yea right - I figured one of her friends kicked the stick into neutral.

I am pulling out of my garage - jeep revs, it had popped into neutral. She was right! Shifting in to any other gear - nothing, still sits in neutral. Turned engine off. It was fine!

Any thoughts?

sounds like a loss of prime concern.... I would check your trans fluid level. May be an improperly installed or damaged filter (common problem with the RFE not the RLE but none the less). Does it make any noise?

no noise at all. pull out garage twice now. go to accelerate from stop sign, and all is disengaged. engine revs. i have tried shifting and 4wd. only solution is tuning jeep off. has only happened after parked fro a awhile, never once i m going.
