Snow Blocker pinched

So took my jeep in to get the seat replaced and have the low speed thud problem looked at (get the part on order-currently back ordered).

Picked it up, seat looked great. Then tonight popped the hood and there is an outline of the snow blocker (new plastic clearly an outline)- where it once was attached (the bit that is right to the left o the air intake- see picture (borrowed picture from another thread)

Needless to say I am pissed - going back to the dealer first thing in the AM.

Did I just purchase a nightmare ?

Is this an honest question? Your asking if you "purchased a nightmare" because basically a sticker came off? Are you hearing yourself?

Maybe I should explain. Mid shaft replacement at 4k, leather seat replacement at 4.5k. Computer reprogrammed 2 times on the lift gate, and 3 times on the radio. In total 10 visits to the dealer in under 5k. And the nav still loses my settings. It seems I can't go for more than two weeks before I am back at the dealer.

First, you need to resize your pictures to fit the page before posting. :buttkick:

You should contact Chrysler and document all the recurring problems you have had. Perhaps they can work out an extended warranty or some other form of compensation for your trouble. Sounds like you are in a very small minority of owners with several issues. If you like the Jeep overall, stick with it. If not, perhaps you should consider a trade-in. Any vehicle brand can have manufacturing defects, especially on newly re-vamped models. Most, if not all, of the problems you have experienced have been corrected on the 2012 models. I hope you can ultimately be happy with your purchase. :)

Well, almost -- the RHR memory situation is just as bad on our days-old 2012 Overland as it was when that radio/media center was first being installed back in January. And there's no indication that the grease-spitting axle problem has been addressed yet.

Bottom line, if you want real reliability look for a Japanese or Korean model, and even then watch out for the occasional dog. But they tend to be boring, so if you spring for Euro or American wheels then expect at least some problems from Month One until you replace it. Ford has turned out a few really reliable models, but otherwise Detroit is Detroit and probably always will be.

That said, we went into our WK2 purchase with eyes wide open, thanks mainly to roosting at JG for a year. We love it, warts and all, and wouldn't have it any other way!

Re: Snow Blocker pinched

ya I expected some issues but not this many this soon. I had a durango for 6 years with 100K miles and had some issues ... but again not this many. I guess what really gets me is that when I do call in to Chrysler they always come back with "really thats the first I hear of that". Even to the individuals that I spoke to not more then a week ago with that issue. I would just like some honesty.

The part that I mentioned above (snow blocker), well found out why there is no part number-- on the newer models that snow blocker is formed in the plastic, not just a foam thingy.

Anyway, thanks for all the good advice and I will have to do some serious thinking if I want to trade this bad boy in.

My June 2011 build WK2 has the foam piece.

Ya mine is June as well, that is what the dealer told me and showed me. Also found out that thoes pieces are only held on with double sided tape and they have the habit of getting sucked into the air intake and just sitting in the bottom of the air filter box.

I have 6500mi and very little issues. Next oil change I will have the steering thud problem looked at as well as the passenger seat rattle. Other that that a pretty well built vehicle.

Can anyone with one of these new models post a pic of the new molded snow blocker??
