Re: ChryCo 300 and and 8 speed

hmmm it bumped the 300 from 27 to 31 ... about a 15% improvement ... same ~15% jump (not sure if we can count on that) would bring the GC from 23 to 26.4 ... I'd definitely be happy with 26, I've been waiting to trade in my '00 4.7 WJ for the WK2 with the 8-speed.

Read somewhere that Chrysler is considering offering the 8 speed as an option for $1000.

I thought we were looking at 2013 model year, mid-late 2012 release for the 8-speed on the V6 WK2?

Ditto, 8/2012 as the likely initial shipment month.

Even at 3MPG better with the 8 speed over 100,000 miles you are only saving around $2,000. If driven mostly highway miles regularly it would amount to a savings of $240 a year. It doesn't make me want an 8 speed so badly when you do the numbers. Most people only look at the short term savings.

A few MPG better would certainly be a nice bonus...just hoping it brings the HEMI 0-60 to around 6 seconds.

I have to say I was happy to see it is a $1k option. Makes me feel better about opting for a 2011 with the 5-speed.

Do you think the 8-speed will show up as a $1K option for the GC? Seems like Jeep would include it to bump that MPG number against the competing crossovers ... then again it doesn't seem like Jeep is having a hard time moving these things off the lot.

Forget the MPG increase...I'm hoping that the GCs will no longer be dogs
with the 8-speed. I'll be glad to buy a hemi that can at least match a V6 Touareg, ML350, 4Runner, etc.
