AWFUL rattle under seat or center console.

My WK2 developed a TERRIBLE rattle under the front seat or center console over the weekend. Bad enough where I don't want to drive the car.

I have not had a chance to poke around, but has anyone else experience this? It sounds like a plastic on plastic "clicking" which is audible non-stop when driving the car (unless its driven on newly paved, perfect blacktop).

Whats odd, is it seems to go away when there is weight in the passenger seat, or if i "brace" the seat with my arm while driving.

Any help before I start to tear this thing apart?

Maybe it's the passenger seat beat clip I had a slight rattle there and I pushed it down and it went away.

i will check, but i dont think so.

i think its vibrations in the modules and wire harness under the passenger seat. they dont look well secured at all.

Try buckling the passenger seat belt and see if it still rattles. That solved it for me after two trips to the dealer.

I had a rattle in my passenger seat, turned out to be the lumbar. I pumped it a little and the rattle went away.

interesting. that could be. i spend some time making sure the wire harness under the seat was secure, and it seemed to go away. but i also had passengers in and out of the car yesterday, so its possible the weight took care of it?

I had a passenger seat rattle just like you described. It also went away when I had a passenger or pressed on the seat with my arm. Turned out to be the head rest post rattling in the seat. I just had to move it up one click from the very bottom position and it was gone.

It is so difficult to find where rattles come from because of the echos in the vehicle.
My sunglasses always rattle while in the holder and it always sounds like it is coming from somewhere else. I ended up needing to wrap them in something before putting them away.

I solved this by "padding" the inside of the sunglass holder with a kind of selfadhesive foam. Works great.

Yep, does look like they could put another 3 cents worth of that felt padding in the sunglasses compartment and actually cover ALL of the plastic doesn't it? When closed, the top of the hinged compartment actually ends up slanted down and being the low spot and that's the part that they did not cover with felt material.

I have a new rattle somewhere in the steering column, it's driving me crazy so off to the Dealer to try to fix it again.
