Tranny problems- the never ending story??
So after my tranny rebuild i was a happy jeeper again, at least for 4 weeks. Then suddenly the same problem appeared again, slipping in 3rd gear, followed by check engine light and code p 0733 (when i remember this well:o)
The tranny shop opened it all up again and found the same solenoid filter/gasket plate with breakages of the seal at several places. He said it was a bad seal plate (brand Precission International) and finally ordered a new seal kit from the States. Today, 4 weeks after the problem returned, he told me that there is a wrong seal plate in the kit. It seems that there a 2 types of solenoid packs for the 5-45RFE, one with a black receptacle (as i have) and one with a white receptacle. The seal plate for both is quite different. It seems that the solenoid pack with the white receptacle was introduced in 2003. My jeep is a 2004 model, but still uses the old type of solenoid pack. Anyone knows if you can just interchange both solenoid packs (with their respective seal plate ofcourse)?
At least the whole tranny is being rebuild again and a new seal plate is on its way.
Will this story ever end?????

Re: Tranny problems- the never ending story??
Just got my jeep back today, after 6 (six:eek::eek::eek:) weeks in the shop. This time they ordered a sealkit directly from the States, but unfortunately the wrong solenoid pack seal was in there (for the white connector solenoid pack, while mine still has the black connector solenoid pack). So again the part was ordered and finally my jeep is on the road again.
This will hopefully be the end of this (expensive) story.

Hopefully everything is smooth sailing for ya from here on out!

That sucks you were without it for 6 weeks, glad to hear everything is running good now. I bet it feels good driving it after so long.
