Keyless Entry & Push Button Start

First post = possibly dumb question

I am looking at the 2012 Grand Cherokee "E", I see that it has the keyless enter and go and push button start. My question is can you still use the key (1) to enter the vehicle and (2) to start the vehicle?

I am more concerned about the push button start, is there still a key ignition slot? I'm sure the push button start is a great convenience, but I was wondering if you MUST use it or if you can start the vehicle with the key.

Thank you!

you can still use the remote to open the car, and no real ignition slot just push button start/stop...

I believe so, in my fathers caddy there's a key inside the fob as backup, but why not use the push button start? I'd kill to have that

Yes, you can remove the pushbutton and use the small end of the fob as you would a normal key.

There is also a hard metal key stowed inside the fob that will open the doors.

Either way, most of us relish how nicely the passive entry and start system works. Chances are you'll probably never go back to the old skool given a choice.

Thanks all for the replys. I just worry about being far from home (or anywhere for that matter) and pushing the start button and nothing happens. That's why I was wondering if there was an ignition and key for back up if the push button doesn't work.

If You push the start button and nothing happen then will be nothing happen when You insert the key.Don't worry, You will love it push button start after first use. I am not using key to start my cars for last 6 years and I love it.

I absolutely love the remote entry/keyless start functionality. Not so much the remote start by the fob, but the whole idea of never having to take the keys out of my pocket. Brilliant. If unbundled, i wouldn't have paid extra for it...and now, after only a few days, I can't imagine buying a car without it....
