Surging/shuddering between 40-60mph in 5.7l

Has anyone experienced a surging and shuddering sensation from the engine when driving between 40-60mph? It feels like the engine is missing. I'm thinking there is an issue with the MDS. I've tried driving in sport mode and in tow mode and it still feels the same.

Depending on when yours was built there's a TSB for drive ability that helps but it doesn't clear it up completely. It's the only complaint I have with the vehicle but I've become used to it. BTW, I don't think it's the MDS, I think it's the drive by wire throttle calibration. I did an impromptu test the other day and if I set the cruise at 50 on a flat, smooth road it's smooth as can be. When I use the throttle, regardless how smooth I try to be it stutters. And yes, I have had the TSB applied, it was horrible before the TSB, it's livable now.

I think its in the drivetrain. If you step on it hard enough that the torque converter unlocks it goes away. It seems to me it through the drivetrain under load.

Mine has a build date of August 2010 and the dealer won't even attempt anything to resolve this issue. Has been present since I brought it home in October 2010. Happens to me under load going up hills in top gear.

To All that have a 2011 Jeep GC... Are you have the surge/shudder/missing sensation in the 35 to 60 ish mph speed, light throttle acceleration? Harder push on the throttle and it goes away? I purchased my GC in Aug of 2011. It is a May build, I think (need to double check that). I have about 3000 miles on it now and it seems worse at times on the same roads and similar weather conditions. Seem like it is a strange characteristic that may tie back to some "auto" feature. I have tried different transfer case modes and anti-slip on and off. Not sure if i need dealer to do the TSB Flash, or what... What say you?

It's the tune and torque converter not playing well together...there is a TSB out for it, but I'm not sure that it completely fixes the problem. My dad just had his computer flashed for low rpm shudder that was most prominent upon approaching hills and they told him it would take a while for the adjustments to work.

Mine is a 2011 May build now with 4K on it. Have noticed more shudder now. I do not think it is a torque converter problem since it varies greatly day to day, on the smae roads, same speed. I still wonder if there is an automatic feature or sensed perameter that under certain temperature conditions changes. Not sure. At the dealer now and they are looking at this problem.

Is that what STAR came up with? will this be a new TSB?

Just had the torque converter replaced and it's still shuddering especially going up any type of incline.
