Re: Guess?

oh damn thats beautiful..... Just a muffler or the complete catback?

PS tell me how this sounds, I have been trying to decide between the magnaflow and borla stainless catbacks. That and im hoping my current muffler rusts out this winter so the wife will be on board with the project.

Re: Guess?
Nah, just the muffler...all the piping is in too good of condition to bother paying all that extra money for. I'm not racing...just looking for a nicer sound and maybe some improved mileage and performance. Full review after I get it in (hopefully this weekend). I'll report back.

I've had Borla's on both my 4.0s...along with stainless catbacks and it was a great upgrade. I had nothing but good experiences with Borla. Just trying Magnaflow this time. We'll see...

Re: Guess?
Sounds good Im looking forward to the review! I need a catback when I do though, my tailpipe isnt in the best of conditions and I like the idea of going all stainless. Let me know what you think of the magnaflow vs. borla.

Re: Guess?
Well, I couldn't wait any longer...came home from work and installed it. Initial review is EXCELLENT! The quality of the muffler itself is a little better than the Borlas I've had in the past. This thing is solidly made, the welds are smoothed out...great fit and finish.

Sound is probably the best part. It's subjective, but I'm very happy for my purposes. I installed Magnaflow part #12586. It's a big boy...only a few inches shorter overall than the stock one. I had to add a 6" piece of pipe after cutting out the old muffler. It sounds nice and angry when you fire it up and when you stomp on it. Otherwise, you don't hear it. No drone, no loud, obnoxious sound. Depending how you drive, you can make it disappear and then re-appear when you gun it. If the WJ had an "SRT" version, I believe it would sound like this from the factory.
Seat of the pants, you don't feel much. It does feel less restricted and slightly more "zoom zoom", but you're not looking a huge HP gain in my opinion. Time will tell on MPGs.
If you want to know it's there all the time and you want a real agressive sound, this one is probably too big. If you want a stock performance car sound, this is it. I'm sure it'll deepen a little more as it "breaks in"...but I'm very happy with it. If you have any questions, fire away...

Re: Guess?
Next you should open up that Y pipe...the whole WJ exhaust is a real fustercluck

Re: Guess?
Question: Can you send me one? :D

Lol, my Jeep modding has been put on hold for now, just necessary maintenance to keep it running. A contractor made the Wife and I an offer we couldn't refuse for new siding, soffit, fascia, and gutters. I'm hoping around Christmas time I will be able to afford new sway bars, I am ready for that change!

Re: Guess?
Yeah, sometimes you gotta put the house first...I just got done renovating the laundry room last month, and a full kitchen remodel last year.

The swaybars really make a difference...those combined with a set of bilstiens change the whole feel of the Jeep. It goes from "picking up the kids from soccer" to "badass".

Re: Guess?
Next up...a FlyinRyan ported TB...should turn the "HO" to a "Dirty HO"...hehehhehe

Re: Guess?
Already have the bilstiens, I cant wait for the sways! Thought about the Flyin Ryan TB too, but I really want to get the suspension done first.
