Girlfriends WK Rant! Help!

Here's a quick rundown.

My girlfriend purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee on August 18th. The car had 65,5xx miles on it. There were a couple things that they agreed to fix upon purchasing the car which was to be scheduled to come back in for. (Nothing major, cosmetic stuff mostly) Here's what happened.

August 24th - Transfer Case Blew out

August 25th - Jeep goes back to the dealer. They were going to fix the original problems that they agreed too, plus diagnose the transfer case issue.

September 8th - We get the Jeep back. NONE of the issues were fixed that they agreed to, plus they told us $1200 for the transfer case issue. Basically it just sat at the dealer for 2 weeks.

September 10th - Jeep dies on the side of the road, towed to dealer. Was told the PCM was fried. Replaced the next day

September 23rd (Today) - "Service Electrical Brake Systems" is being displayed on the dash. Goes back to the dealer tomorrow.

My question is, is there anything we can do? The thing only has 65k miles and is driven on city roads (Barely ever over 45mph). Why on earth is a transfer case being shot, PCM fried, and brakes screwing up? It has a clean carfax and a very solid service record. To me it seems they just cleared all the codes and put it up for sale.

I'm not sure if theres any law or anything that protects against dealers screwing people over like this, but I figured i'd ask.

Thanks for the help

That sounds like a horrible string of bad luck.

If you go to https://www.jeep.com//hostb/crossbrand/owners/en/ and sign up and put in her VIN you can see all the recorded work that has been done on the vehicle. Maybe if they didn't do the 60k? maintenance on the transfer case you would have something to complain about?

If I may ask, what dealer are you using?
I bought mine from Performance CJD near Georgesville Rd (SW Columbus) and have used them for service a couple times. Ask for Mark (Max) Atkins (service) if you ever go there. I haven't had much done but Max is awesome for answering all types of questions.

As for lemon laws people say it varies by state and generally requires the same thing to break 3 times.

Good luck with it whatever you do!

I'll look into that, thanks.

Yea but unfortunately I don't think it meets the requirements for a Lemon Law yet. We'll see.

I'll check into that website. Thanks for the info.

It was purchased at Crown CJD in Dublin.

Sorry to here your Jeep has problems. Used cars always have a story to tell. Usually when someone trades in a car they have some problem that they just don't want to get fixed. Some people just leave all of the problems unfixed and trade it in and dump it on someone else, Years back I didn't mind having to do a few repairs to fix the vehicle up, but now with the high price of car repair, I can't deal with a car payment and car repairs. I always try and buy a certified used vehicle. They have the warranty almost as good as a new car, and you can extend the warranty to run longer if you want to pay extra. I just bought an 08 WK limited in August and it had a good carfax and repair history from the dealer, but I still had to replace a bad keyfob, almost $200 and a bad TPMS sensor about $60.00 plus $85.00 labor. I still have a noise in the rear diff. at highway speeds but that is the price I have to pay for a used car.

a month old with all those problems... id call a lawyer. These things dont just happen overnight... At least not the Tcase and Brake issue. If they are not willing to fix it all for free... lawyer up. Its possible the problems are related, one went out and then the other. But still.... in 1 month... i'd be heated!

If you are the 2nd owner, did the 7y/70k extended go with it?

Did you get the agreed to fixes in writing or was it a verbal agreement?

having the same problem, purchased a certified used 2007, 70k miles, so far i've been in a rantal car 6 of the 24 days i've owned the vehicle. stalled out on me twice, both times on the highway, gauges went, locks are now locking about 7-10 times on there own. Dealer can't figure out why.

Real quick question. I just purched a used WK 2005 5.7 Limited. 90 day warranty buy dealer from purchase date. Did they offer a 90 day dealer warrantee at no cost? If the purchase is from a private party then "as-is". Not typically so from a dealer. If still frustrated contact you State Consumer Affairs Office and them for help and guidance.
Here is Warranty Info. for that Jeep-Factory Powertrain to 70K -

Those things are in writing. They were confronted about it and always had some sort of excuse. I plan on going back to the dealer tomorrow to get it situated.

I'll look into that. Thanks

Also, we got the service history from Jeep's website. There were a bunch of records that I know did not show up on the carfax, is this possible? I know for a fact that if they were on the carfax, we would have never purchased the car.
