playing ipod?
Couldn't really find a thread with my exact problem so here goes!

Not to sound stupid, but how the hell do i play my ipod?

In my Ford i would just plug the black ipod wire i have from the port in the center armrest and then into my ipod, hit aux on the radio and i could then play my ipod.

Which usb port do i use in the Jeep? I tried the one by the radio and it says devices on the screen with my name and my husbands name when i pick either name it then says failed. Should i use a different usb? or does the ipod have to be paired or something like the phone?

Oh and i have the 730NRHR
I'm confused.....

Re: playing ipod?
I have the 430N, but on it the iPod only works when plugged into the USB port at the back of the upper tray of the centre console armrest.

Re: playing ipod?
hmmmm...i see that usb port at the back of the center console tray. I guess i need a new wire for my ipod, mine has round connectors at each end, so the only one it fits into is the aux input up by the radio

Re: playing ipod?
you can use the same usb cord you use to plug into your computer.

Save yourself a bunch of cash, just order this, it'll work the same, if not better..

Re: playing ipod?
ok, turns out i do have that exact white cable, tried it still nothing.

When the screen comes up where it says usb, (there is also an icon that says my name and one that says my husbands name) should i be able to select usb, because i can't select it, the picture is kind of faded out and you can't select

maybe my ipod is to old? it think its the 1st or 2nd generation

Re: playing ipod?
Like this?

If anything, see if your friends have a newer iPod to test it on. If not, the dealership could see if it's anything they can fix on their part.

Re: playing ipod?
Check and make sure it's fully updated on iTunes... If that doesn't fix it, try a friends newer iPod... If that doesn't work either, to the dealer it should go.

Over the years I've tried these cheap cords, half of them fail within a week if they work at all, the other half are in the trash within a month or so. Once in a while you get a good one. Higher quality cords last a year or more.

I don't believe the nano is compatible with the radio, at least mine is not. You can use a regular audio aux cord (0.5mm I think) from your iPod earphone jack to the aux input on the front of the radio. You will have to control play through the iPod and it won't charge, but otherwise the audio sounds just fine.
