Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

So, after tinting my tails, I ordered a set of LED bulbs that way I could keep a darker tint, but still have visible taillights. I ordered the bulbs and the resistor, it was supposed to be plug and play. When I installed them today.... nothing happened. I was able to get them to light up once or twice, but they looked pretty dim. Even worse, I'm not sure exactly what happened, but now my taillights don't work at all. I put the regular bulbs back in, they work for turn signal, but not for running lights. Keep in mind, the extent of my electrical knowledge is, when I plug my Xbox into the outlet... it just turns on. I noticed on the website I ordered from, they offered a 50W 6ohm resistor, however the ones that came in the box say 8W on them. Could they be the wrong ones?

You most likely blew your tail lamp fuse. Check that before anything else.

Re: Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

ok you need a CK bulb and a 6 ohm resistor/

your bulb should be the same color as the lens. so a red bulb for your turn stop. and white for reverse.

bulb (couldnt find one at your place) here is vleds bulb. its know as CK bulbs

resistor 6 ohm

here is why you need a CK bulb

and if you popped a fuse, go under hood, open fuse box closest to the front and replace fuse #10/

Re: Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

On the autolumination website, it said I can switch the wire running to the socket, do you think that would work?

Re: Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

yes that works too. switch the OUTER wires right before the plug. you still need the 6 ohm 50w resistor though.........and you wire it across those 2 outer wires.

and IIRC I have some in the For Sale in my Garage Sale thread.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate the help!

one last note. be careful where you place the resistors they get HOT. i mounted mine under the bumper but not near anything they could damage.

Re: Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

Well, I went to the electronics store, the guy had 5w 6.8 ohms resistors and he said they would be ok so I bought them. Replaced the fuse up front, cut and swapped the wires from the socket, installed the resistor to the hot wire, and it seemed like everything was fine. Brake lights worked, blinkers, etc etc. After I closed everything back up, it's not working, the blinker indicator on the dash is back in hyper flash, the bulbs are lit in the back super dull, not even as bright as my stock bulbs. What are your thoughts? Are the resistors no good, or was the 6.8ohms not compatible as recommended by the store clerk?

Re: Where are my LED/Wiring guru's?

you need 50w/ 5w is NOT enough I dont think.

I am no engineer bro. i ONLY know what works. cant help with every variation and why this and that.

all the best/
