Surprised

Today I was surprised for two reasons.
First, my left rear indicator lamp went out. :( Next week will be the one year anniversary of my Overland.
Second, the EVIC notified me: "rear left indicator lamp failure". I didn't expect either but more surprised that the EVIC provided such information. :D

Same thing happened to me. Got the left rear light fixed and a week later the right one went. I thought that was odd for a 10 month old vehicle.

So indicator was that the blinker or the entire light (brake and blinker)? That is pretty sad, I hope they add LED's for 2013 that will be plug and play on ours.

Re: Surprised

Just the indicator part went. The bulb has two filaments, brake and indicator. It was a simple change, just pry two plugs and the unit pulls out to access two bulbs.

With Dubwarren's comment, I will change the right side tomorrow. The bulb's (3057) came in pairs anyway ($4.99). The originals were Sylvania and the replacements I got were GE.

No failures here yet, but a good thing that the EVIC is warning you  did not know it had a bulb failure warning.

Re: Surprised

My left rear turn signal light (3057) went out yesterday. EVIC warned me of the problem. Went to AutoZone and picked up a two pack. Very easy to change. The lens is held in by two plastic push pins. (Hint: turn the pin's notches vertically which makes it easier to slip a small screwdriver behind it.) Mileage was 16,000.

The rear brake light in the rear spoiler is LED. It should *fingers crossed* have an unlimited lifetime.

It's cool that the EVIC warns you of any burnt out bulbs. They need this feature one every car out there. The number of cars with burnt out bulbs in my city is crazy. People are either clueless or don't give a damn.

The EVIC will not warn you of a DRL burn out though.

I had this kind of notification on EVIC of my 1998 ZJ. They've had it for a while - this model was designed in '92 or '93.

I've changed the same side bulb last week. Nice to have notification on EVIC!
