The dreaded crack

So i think that i have the dreaded 4.7 V8 Exhaust manifold crack.

I am going to have my exhaust shop look at it this week to be certain. Its really loud on cold start and goes away as it warms up and its coming from the drivers side behind the tire.

What have you guys replaced it with? If the work has to be done i dont want to waste $ on stock. I want to put a set of stock replacement headers on.

What do you recommend?

this is where i am starting to look for now. but the dont have anything for the 4.7 that i can find.

Re: The dreaded crack

blame it on the hit........

also be careful those are ALL dakota headers. there is NOT much room in the Jeep.

I am going to get it up on a lift and check it out next week, but if it is cracked and it needs to be replaced am i SOL for aftermarket options?

Re: The dreaded crack

you dont want them anyways stay with the stock headers. aftermarkets get to hot for the space you have it will mess up allot of stuff

Are the stock manifolds cast iron? Maybe you could get them Extrude Honed? More flow = more power

Have had the same problem for a wile Kyle, it is your very last bolt that broke due to the extreme heat of the manifold, it looks like a pain to get in there so i just left it alone. there is a thread somewhere in here that shows the job with great detail from one of our fellow members.
