Audio Overhaul Advice for MY2011 WK2

Hey guys, in regards to the WK2... the stock sound system is decent, but i need more in this rig. Can you guys refer a decent sound system overhaul? I see that "moose" had some focal components speaks up front and Rockford Fosgate sub in the back? I can live with the head unit for now. Any advice, local installers, and cost...would be much appreciated.

Barlo, IME the first two priorities are more power as the stock amp is diluted/bridged across too many secondary speakers, and then replacing the cheap plastic sub enclosure. Note you'll need to use a line out converter to keep the stock amp in place so the head unit functions are maintained. Otherwise, if you have the Overland, the Alpine components themselves are pretty decent quality.

Here's a few of the better threads, there's others in this subforum.

My aftermarket efforts with custom sub enclosure and more power:

Jorde's Stealthbox and line out converter:

Paranormal's custom sub enclosures and new amps/speakers:

docluv seemed to have success by surrounding the stock sub enclosure with dynomat or something similar which cut down on the distortions:

There was another JG member who did a really nifty dual amp install in the cubbies to the fore of the spare tire compartment, just can't find it.

Have fun.

I put a 10" sub with a 570 watt amp and it's night and day. The bass is lacking in the stock system for some reason. It just doesn't have any punch. I adjusted the sub so I can keep the bass down on the main speakers which keeps them from having to work so hard and get muffled sounding. I think the mids and highs sound great stock.

SightSeeker ... which one did you put in ... can you add some pictures -- do it yourself or did you take it to someone?

I built a small sub box for my 350Z that I sold and I just threw the equipment in the Jeep. I put the amp under the driver seat and ran half the wires from the amp in the back and half from the back of the radio. I have a couple pics but nothing too helpful.

The wire diagram is attached. It was kind of a pain finding the signal levels out. Use the amplified antenna for the remote on the amp. The battery under the seat made things real easy. I went through the center console from one seat to the other. Easy.

Anyone try fiberglass/resining the OEM enclosure and drop it back in?
