almost hid, but not really lights

I was at Autozone today, and they had some nifty "HID-Like" bulbs for headlights. Were priced at $69.99, a snibbit cheaper than HID's, and I was curious if anyone has ever bought these, or seen them and can vouche for them?

I am hesitant to purchase them because, I'm looking for a white light(4-5K), and I thought(because I'm a turd) that Silverstar bulbs would be white..

I've heard about HID's melting aftermarket headlights because of the wattage being at 55, and these "not-really-hids-but-look-like-them" are at 55W's..

if you are on a budget you can get DDM HId Kits for under $50ish.(55w too) or you can spend a few bucks more and go xenondepot. spending $70 for a pair of bulbs is kinda crazy

they are junk and will burn out in 6-12 months

Save you $$$ and get the HID set up from XenonDepot. Great quality kit! You're a 1/3 of the way there with what you'll pay for those "HID LIKE" bulbs. I had the Silverstar ultras...they're nice, but they don't compare to HID in my opinion. At least not in a projector headlight.

Been running e-bay specials for years.
Worth every penny.

I am descent and use in projectors or high beams only to protect the other drivers.

TurboDiesel's right. And I've never had a problem with my HID's melting anything or having had any other problems with them.

I've had my HIDs in for like 6 months now and haven't had any issues with them what so ever. No problems with melting or heat, nothing at all.

just get hids, i got a kit from ddm for my fogs and lows both 55w for a little over 135. the 35w for both would only be 110

Re: almost hid, but not really lights

as long as they are the same wattage as stock halogens... you wont burn anything up.

www.DDMtuning.com sells complete HID kits for about that price. Better off just going with the real thing.
