Remote Starter Question

My son has a '99 Laredo 4.0 that he'd like to put a remote starter on. Any electrical issues he should look out for?
Thanks,
Roger

Simple remote starters should be fine. They require you to put your factory key inside the key switch when you want to drive away. You may also need an engine immobilizer unit, which a good one costs an extra $100, to be able to start the car remotely.

I recently installed ST960 in my Grand 04 with a push-button start, but we ran into some trouble in installing it. You can see my post in this thread: http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=28936

You can search YouTube for “ST800 Alarm” which is the previous version of ST960.

Re: Remote Starter Question

Are the ones at like Autozone worth the $150 pricetag?

Re: Remote Starter Question

I had a Viper system installed last year.Have never had any issues with electric problems. Those cheapies that you see for $150 installed from autozone and pep boys and such places won't work.

Is your viper system just the remote start?

if you have two keys they wont make you get that module unit for the extra 100 bucks but like me i only had one key so everything came out to $475 viper 5901 love it so much alarm and remote start, no problems with electrical

p.s bring cash so you can lower the price!

Re: Remote Starter Question

Mine is remote start , keyless entry and factory alarm all tied to in to the Viper remote.I paid over $380 or so installed. It ended up being a waste of money for me as I rarely ever use it only during winter if its really cold or snowing. If I could go back I would have put that money towards wheels but at the time I had big plans for both.I also only had one key but home depot can make the key. I think they charged me like $60 if I remember correctly.
