Hello,

Excellent setup. In my previous SUV (08 Pathfinder), I went with a complete DLS systems ultimate amp and the UP6I fronts and back. That was connect to the Kenwood eXcelon V1000 oem controller which also had a pre-out of 5volts. That system went with the Pathfinder to trade in for the 2011 JGC.

Now for my JGC, I am working on a Pioneer Stage 4 system amps and speakers. The fronts will be a 3-way active system and the rear fill-ins will be passive. The sub, I am not sure if going with the stealth box or a custom enclosure. My installer also is pushing me to get the Eclipse HU. I am waiting also on which processor to go with.

Which wire harness did you go with and problems dealing with Hi Speed Can Bus system? I have the Alpine Premium System, so I am wondering what problems will I have.

Good Luck and Best for Now. :)

Thanks alot,
I used the Metra XSVI-6522NAV. I keep hearing everyone talk about the hi-speed can bus. What are the issues with it?

Greetings,

Thank you for the information on the wire harness.

In brief, the Hi-Speed Can Bus system was design to cut down on the amount of wiring within the vehicle in order to save weight. This is for the connections between the various computers and systems that are interactive. The wiring is done in series (serial) connections in a continuos loop (a termination point is more technical). Simply stated, the wiring for a computer is sent to some part of the engine which then is connect to a another a computer or system so on so forth. For example, the information from the air conditioner can go thru several computers and systems until the data is recognized by the computer needed to process that information. Their is no central computer that gathers all the data and knows which computer to send it to directly.

I had early issue with Can Bus when I installed aftermarket HID lights. Because the HID lights were not compatible with bus system, it effect the air suspension where it would not work properly. My installer had to reorder the HID lights for the HI-Speed Can Bus and now the problem is solved.

With regards to the sound system, as of now, if I remove the factory amp, I do not know if it will effect something else or the amp is a termination point. The new Jeep Service Dealership I going to try to find out this information. Meanwhile, the harness manufactures refer to Jeep for those answers.

Enjoy the tunes and trails. :)

SWEET! What was the final cost of products + installation? I am not a fan of the stock system in this overland, so i am trying to find any reference i can regarding custom installs.

I did the install myself, so I saved allot there. I never added it all up yet. I don't think I want too, lol

I lost the ability to scroll through channel presets from the steering wheel. I didn't like that feature anyway, I would always hit it on accident.

Have you brought the GC in for service yet? I am curious if you had any problems with service updates.

Best for now. :)
