REC Nav. problameo
So my nav. unit decided to take a crap on the way to work today. I have sound and the little green lights but, no lcd screen. Well then... when i got home tonight I checked every possible fuse and all were good. So then I disconnected the Battery for 30 min. and still have nothing. And as feared lost my pre sets as well. So now where to go from here??
The funny thing is I just hooked up the relays for my H.I.D.s yesterday and solved the headlight problem.
Any input or theory is welcome... thanks in advance!!

Re: REC Nav. problameo
Update: this morning it fully functioned long enough for me to get back to satellite radio. Then went back to no display. I can skip through channels, use the volume control today. Yesterday, it would only let me change stations by pre sets.
And always let me use volume.

Ya, no "lock pic" in use.

Re: REC Nav. problameo
the lcd is an internal function of the radio... what I mean is if the LCD quits functioning, it is the radio that turns it on, not an external circuit in the vehicle. Obviously if the entire radio shuts off it may be a power supply concern, but if you have power to the radio (indicated by lighting turning on and noise from speakers, and button function) the radio has failed...

I had one recently, same problem, the customer seemed to have been told it was "a video cable" so he didnt appreciate my "needs a REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE radio" diagnosis and told me I was wrong... oh well, my REC will be playing music on the way home ;)

Funny thing about that one was I looked in history and for some reason unknown to all the writing staff and other techs I asked, the tech number on the "previous video cable problem" diagnosis was a lube tech who didnt even work at the dealership any longer, I think this diagnosis was for a reverse camera issue that he assumed just progressed to the lcd not working all together.

Re: REC Nav. problameo
I was just hoping for a fix that was easy I guess. When the jeep sits over night and I fire it up in the morning the nav. Works fully for about 10 seconds. Then I lose display(lcd) and the ability to choose what mode I want to use. But, I am still able to use the seek function for maybe 10 minutes from the time I turn the radio on. After that all I have control over is volume. Thanks again guys...

Re: REC Nav. problameo
I will say mine has freaked out one time, I started the jeep and it powered up then shut off. I thought it just died (it may be going out) but I restarted the jeep and it powered up with no problem. Only time its ever done it.

Hooking it up to the witech a the next day to just to do a periodic check (because I can ;) ) I had an overtemp code stored in the radio, which was likely why it went into maybe a run cooler mode and shut functions off.

I have heard of the fans failing causing an overheat condition which would make sence as it heats up that more and more functions fail. That said I am no electronics engineer.
