Where to buy Key Fob

I need another key for my 2005 grand cherokee 5.7 limited. I have just one right now and it just has the regular 4 button key fob attached to it. The dealership wants close to 175 to just buy a new blank key fob and then 45 dollars to cut and program it. Im thinking that you guys arent paying those prices because that is ridiculous.

I saw on ebay that there is a company that sells re manufactured key fobs and that they are guaranteed to work. Does anyone know if this is true? These keys are only like 50 dollars which is a great price compared to the dealer price and I like that it is an actual jeep key so that when the dealer looks at it they see the Jeep logo on the back and all that. I dont want to get turned down by them because I bring in an aftermarket key.

So where is everyone getting their extra key fobs?

That sounds like a deal that I am looking for. When you bought the key was it new or a reman? I just don't want to buy some keys on ebay that are junk. When my internet it back up I will post some links with what I'm looking at.

Do you need two keys to follow your programming guide because I only have one right now.

any make sure it was never programmed before, they can not be reprogrammed. if you only have one key, you will have to have either a dealer or locksmith program it for you.

Here are the two I am looking at on ebay. I definitely want to make sure that it says Jeep on the back of the key and that it is a complete key fob not just a shell or something like that.

This link says it has brand new key fobs and is a little cheaper then the reman key fobs. I just wish that they showed a picture of the back. Has anyone bought this key before?

This is a link to the reman key fobs. I like that it says its guaranteed to be programmable and since it is a reman I am assuming that it is definitely an OEM "Jeep" key fob. But if I can get a legit brand new key fob for a few dollars cheaper I will definitely go with that.

Yeah thats what scares me about buying a reman key even if they "guarantee" that it can be reprogrammed. Thats good to know that a locksmith can do it since Im sure they will be a few dollars cheaper then the dealer and you dont have to listen to the dealers bullshit about how the key Im bringing in wont work and I need to buy theirs for $200.

I bought mine off of Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/2005-2007-Cher...7910619&sr=8-1

I had it programmed at a local dealership for $25. The key is brand new as far as I can tell and it says Jeep on the backside. Works 100% as it is supposed to.

For the record, the Jeep dealership close to my house wanted $180 for the key and another $50 for programming. Another dealer close to my work was only asking $25 for the programming/cutting. Call a couple of dealerships if you have some close by and see what they're charging.

Be glad you don't live on Australia. Best I could get from the dealer was $540 plus $120 programming! I can't use the ones sold in the US either as can't be programmed as the European ones are different.

Glad I don't live in Australia ;). All you guys seem to have dealers that charge close to nothing to program. My dealer told me 1/2 Labor =$60.00.

Thats nuts you guys are charging 120 an hour for labor. The union shop around here is only 95 an hour for labor. Those mechanics must be making some big money.
