Anyone ever had a "bad fuel knock" in their engine?

Anyone who has ever owned a carb'd engine knows this sound. For the last 4-5 days or so, I've been hearing a knock during RPM's of 1200-2500 if I'm in a higher gear driving around town. I only hear it when the engine is "lugging". I've had the same tune now since June or so and I've never heard it until the last few days. My low fuel light is on now and I'm going to try a different brand fuel. I've used 2 of the same stations here the last few days. I'm hoping this is my issue. Anyone else had this issue? I'm also gonna do some logging tonight before/after the new gas. Like I said though, it's only in a higher gear. I can rip it and I won't hear it. I know my engine and I know this sound hasn't been there before. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I don't know if this matters but you never know. What Octane did you put in? Maybe you accidentally put 87?

You know.... I'm usually pretty good about that since I used to drive a diesel, I haven't really thought about that. Hmmmm..... I'm probably gonna go to the Sunoco station across town and throw 5-7 gallons of 100 octane in it tonight and see what that does. Thanks. Lemme go check my last receipt and see if I screwed up!

Well, just found my receipt. I DID put 93 in it. Wondering if the station could have screwed up and put 87 in the 93 tank?

If you paid by CC, what the receipt says is what you put in. Thats if you paid by CC.

I always pay with CC and it says PREM on it like all my other ones. My only hope is someone screwed up at the station and put 87 in the 93 tanks.

I mean you never really know. Can you feel the knocking? And does the Engine hesitate?

Not really. It runs fine. I just know that the sound isn't good. It's that pinging/detonation/knock sound. Like I said it's only when I've say got it in 3rd at 30mph and try to speed up. Seems to go away after 2500-2700rpms.
