What tyres does it come with?

I'm waiting for my JGC and one way of waiting is to think about possible upgrades :)

Can anyone tell me what tyres come with the Aus Overland with ORII?

Are they fine for occasional off-road (medium level) or am I better off to swap them with some good ATs as soon as I get it?

Kumho eco Solus KL21, they are quiet and grip well.
I could not complain about them, even offroad.

Thanks enforcer. Not much information available for Kumho eco Solus KL21. Is listed as "All-Season" tyre.

My gut tells me that I would be better off swapping them for something more suitable for off-road usage but my wallet tells me to wait and try them first....

Oh well, still have 4 1/2 months to make up my mind

They are a road biased tyre, so any reasonable offroading would need a better style of rubber, I would also use 18" for offroading.

Re: What tyres does it come with?

Apparently in the States they come with Michelin Latitude or Goodyear Fortera tyres. However, all export GCs come with Kumho Solus KL21 (see http://www.kumho.com.au/?mid=blog&did=223 ). Why? Who knows? They are all classed as "all season" rather than "all terrain" tyres meaning they are optimised for on-road with some off-road capability. Suits me, 99% of the time I'll be on-road getting to where I want to go to do a bit of off-road.

On my trip from Cairns to Sunshine Coast, we experienced a couple of tropical downpours, the Kumho Tyres on the Laredo aquaplaned very badly, even at slow speeds, not happy, will have to check out alternatives, the only other time I have struck this was with Toyo Teo's on a Subaru Outback, am not looking forward to the expense of change over. The Kumho may be listed as an All Season Tyre, as long as the season is not a North Queensland wet season.

Re: What tyres does it come with?

The brochures for the Off Road Adventure pack state they come with All Terrain Tyres - in fact even without ORAII it states that - Im going to be bringing this up with the dealership and get them to put AT tyres on it before I pick mine up...

Re: What tyres does it come with?

I was looking at the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. $159 from tire rack. Including shipping that should just slide in below the $1000 gst threshold. Way better than the $430/tyre I was quoted locally.

But before I buy anything I will have a chat with the dealer. Jeep.com.au lists the Kumho Solus KL21 as A/T while kumho.com.au says All-Season. Not quite the same and worth asking the dealer about it....

I was lucky enough to negotiate the Yokohama Geolander ATS with my GC five of them. I pointed out what the jeep brochure stated "all terrains" and then pointed out what it stated if I purchased the Off Road Package, "All Terrains" in the end they came to the party.
