Pioneer AVH-P4300

Hey Guys,

I have finally decided to go with this double din stereo but I need to figure out everything else I will need.

I already bought a double din bezel.

I plan to get one of these (let me know which, if any, is better)
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-6510-...8705862&sr=8-3
or
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-CR1289...8705862&sr=8-4

and I think all I will need is a wire harness, if someone can link me to that and anything else I might not have thought of, I would appreciate it!

oh and one last question...I plan to use an android phone with this unit, i know it's got an iphone/ipod wire but is there anything special I need or could use for android? I probably will on need to connect it to use google maps and maybe once in a while for music or other media.

thanks!

I'm about 90% through my audio upgrade of the same vehicle. I bought the Metra trim kit but it wont be here til next week. I started with the stock low end radio and this is what I needed. The bezel which you already have and the following two parts:

Metra XSVI-6502-NAV Chrysler Interface

Antenna Adapter

https://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDe...Code=12040CR10

I highly recommend the wiring harness as it will save you a BIG headache. These are links to the Canadian site but the numbers are the same for the US site, albeit cheaper prices. I installed an Alpine NAV system, so the harness may be different so I would call the people at Crutchfield and they will walk you through it. They may however tell you that a DDin HU will not fit, but they are wrong, it will fit. You just need to bend the white metal supports up a bit. If you have the stock stereo I would also highly recommend ditching the dash speakers for these:

50% improvement with sound quality right off the bat

I have the same head unit in my RX-8. I wasn't able to get it to work with my android phone, it will only charge it. I only have the USB cable for my Ipod and it works great with music. If I put the head unit in App mode I can play music through my Ipod and control everything through the Ipod instead of the head unit, but I just get a blank screen or the warning screen about watching videos while driving. I don't know if this would change with a special wire or not.

It's a great head unit though, I'm very happy with it

As of right now, there isnt much that will work with an android phone the way and Ipod or Iphone will function.

The best i've found is find a headunit that does streaming bluetooth audio. For us android guys, thats you're best option aside from a simple aux cable.

Aux will be strictly audio. I'm 99% sure on my android (incredible 2) if i was running a nav program while listening to music it would interrupt the music and give me the nav prompt. No visual display, but the audible alert did come in handy.

From personal experience, between customers cars and my personal vehicle, i'm a fan of kenwood navigation systems. They use a garmin (navtec) mapping, the bluetooth is great and the overall interface is fairly straight forward. I'd look at the kenwood DNX6180, can be had for around $600 new as its techically "last years" model.

Pioneer makes a solid navigation, as does Alpine, they are a tab more expensive but still overal great units.

I've done a few clarions as well, no complaints either.

thanks man. im on a tight budget which is why i was hoping to go with pioneer, i guess i could always get the avh-p4300 and save up and get the nav plug in. that kenwood is nice too and the price isn't terrible. thanks for all the input!
