Spare Tire
Hi to all Jeep Garage Members....This is my first post, and I really appreciate being a part of a forum, where I can receive some good direction and opinions with regard to my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.

The tires presently on my vehicle are P265/50R20; however, I noticed today that the spare tire is a smaller size 18" tire. I just purchased this vehicle last week, and it is a "certified" Chrysler vehicle with 12,800 miles on it. I am concerned that by putting an 18" tire on the vehicle with 20" tires that I will do damage to the 4wd system...Why would Chrysler not provide the same size spare tire and wheel to match what is OE on the vehicle?

overall diameter, including the tire, is the same so it won't damage your 4wd system

Re: Spare Tire
Thanks for your prompt reply.... It is good to know that if I have to use the spare that I won't run into problems. I know that these vehicle often come through with different size tires. On the other hand, if the spare tire would have been the same size as the tires on the vehicle, it would have allowed me to purchase 3 tires, rather than 4, and use my best old tire for the spare.

Re: Spare Tire
My '05 Liberty had a spare identical to the four on the ground (wheel, tire, and TPMS sensor). I rotated all five, extending time before buying tires by 20%. I've never been a fan of keeping the spare new and buying three to match. Often finding the same tire brand and type is difficult, and then you have an old tire matched with three new ones. Would probably work if you drive a lot of miles per year.
