LED Tail Lights/ Strobe Lights, 2011 GC
Hey Everyone. I recently purchased a 2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo in Brilliant Black. Ive had it about 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. Im already looking to get my first project underway and could really use some help.

I have been following the posts regarding converting the tail lights to LED. I plan on doing this once I figure out the correct bulbs and to make sure they'r bright enough and have plenty of LED's per bulb. Heres the tricky part and the part I need help at.

I do volunteer work that takes me to a lot of natural and man made disasters (fires, floods, etc) and this requires me to park my vehicle in less then desirable locations. What I want to do is replace the brake lights and reverse lights with LED's but then wire them to act as strobes as well, even flashers. I was curious if anyone had any experience utilizing brake and reverse lights as emergency flashers and if its possible to pull off with LED replacements. I would appreciate any help i can get. Thanks!

I posted in the Vendor section and am awaiting a response from Xenon. However I did call a vendor I have used before for emergency lights, Southwest Public Safety ( The guy said that I could use an LED flasher than should hook up to the reverse lights with no problem. Obviously a switch would have to be hooked up to change patterns and turn them on. I haven't purchased it yet, I want to do more research.

Re: LED Tail Lights/ Strobe Lights, 2011 GC
So I talked with Xenon Depot and this is what he said
"sure you could hook that up to reverse lights BUT im no expert but if you have 2 seperate power sources set up on ONE light when you turn ONE on the current can go BACKWARDS thru the other sourceand damage it. so I think you need to add some diodes on both sources so the power cannot go backwards. thew diode will only allow current to go ONE way.

at least thats what little I know."

Basically its not possible. The idea seems easy enough but apparently isn't. Im going to do more research into it but might end up replacing my tailgate reverse lights with LED strobe bulbs. That way I won't have to drill any holes in my jeep and Ill still have the two main reverse lights underneath the brake/turn signal light. Ill keep everyone posted on what I find out and what I do.

Thanks for the update, i really didnt want to go ripping up the jeep and drilling holes like i have in the past so the tailgate lights sound like a good option

Im giving a friend of mine, who does all custom car work, a call tomorrow to see his opinion on this. The concept is simple enough its just a matter of getting the necessary components. Ill keep you all filled in on what I find out

PS- If anyone has any suggestions or knows some info please help me out!
