Slight Thud Up Steering Shaft
I've had my CRD since early Sept and have clocked up just over 2000km.

I'm noticing a slight thud like reverberation up through the steering shaft presumably from the axle when the brakes are applied right at the point when the car is just about to stop.

It's just 1 very light thud as the car comes to a stop. If the car is just slightly rolling forward and I hit the brake on / off I can feel the dull thud (no sound) through the steering wheel as many times as the brake is hit. I only notice this when the car is coming to a complete stop.

Anyone else get this?

Re: Slight Thud Up Steering Shaft
Yes there is a TSB out for an intermediate shaft to be replaced with an updated one.

Re: Slight Thud Up Steering Shaft
ya its very mild but when you hit the breaks you feel like someone just tapped your steering wheel ... I had the I-shaft replaced and it cured it ...

good luck

Re: Slight Thud Up Steering Shaft
IMS replacement will take care of this.

Now if they could just get the transmission to not occassionally slip on take-off, these trucks would be perfect.:)

Re: Slight Thud Up Steering Shaft
Thanks guys, that's exactly the problem. I've seen the TSB, I'll book it in on it's first service. :)
