hardwiring radar detector

Where is the best place to penetrate the firewall to get to the fuse box. Trying to hardwire my radar detector. Also which fuse is best to piggie back for positive power and where can I get the negative. Thanks!

i always cut a small hole where the steering column goes thru... there is rubber around it its out of the way and insulated

Why go through the fire wall? My valentine 1 and all the other electronic are wired into the switched cig lighter for power, you just access the wires for it behind the dash, we are in 2011 there's no need to go strait to the battery, and even if you do it won't be switched power

You can also tap into the overhead console.

Yea, going through the firewall is pointless

If you have a bel, escort, or v1 just tap into the rear view mirror wire. You can get invisicord or just make it yourself in 15 mins. I made my own and works great so far

I tapped into the switched 12vdc inside the lower center bezel. Crazy easy to do. Using a Beltronics with the hardwire kit.
