2014 srt8
I dont usually have time to get on here much but where i work is right next door to a testing facility that creates and tests the exhaust for many different vehicles, my company actually makes the exhaust tubing for those vehicles, in the past few months ive seen a 2014 Camaro, Chally 392, and a fecoboost F150.

just a few weeks ago i saw a WK2 SRT ( new it right away from the body kit) and i have family that works there on a cummins design team, so i asked him what year it was, he said theyre finishing up the 2014 and about to start a new line up of 2015 models with small changes. They apparently did initial design and testing on the 2012 SRT8 WK2 over a year ago and this 2014 they were asked for a little more aggressive toned system.

Well, i saw it the other day running laps out on the track and usually i cant hear any of the vehicles running even when they do WOT runs. I hear this roaring idle as i walked outside and i looked to see this WK2 sitting at the end of the track, sounded like a cutout or open headers, it was that loud, then something changed and it softened up a bit, then he took off WOT. Tires squaked and he was GONE! this thing was MEAN! im not sure what they had on it for exhaust but WOW. almost makes me want to sell my Ram and buy one next year if i can get my hands on whatever they had on that one. i asked my family member about it and what they were doing and e said that that particular system is finished and they were just screwing around on the track before they had to send it back north.

just figured id share that bit of news.

Re: 2014 srt8
could you hear a whine from it at,. supercharger?

Re: 2014 srt8
negative, it was all motor. sorry to burst a bubble there but it was naturally aspirated and 100% BADA$$. (i asked about that when i talked to my family member because they have had a corvette ZR1 last spring and you could really hear the charger wind up)

Re: 2014 srt8
oh im not saying that they wont or dont have one in the plans, this one may just not have been one of them. honestly i dont see them doing a project like that before the original has hit the market in large share yet. i could maybe see a turbo 5.7L in a few years due to its proven reliability over the past decade. they wont do that to a 6.1 because the cost of the engine is much higher than that of a 5.7 and it would over exceed there margins. the 6.4L will have to be RW tested before they go adding boost to show people that it can handle it. 85% of people that buy SRT editions wont use them for anything other than a daily driver. that other 15% use them like they should be run or mod them for there own needs. which means a boosted 6.4L would have to meet the demands of a DD more so than a sport car.

Video or BAN!!! Just kidding.
Factory cutouts would be fun! Those Eaton based superchargers don't have much whining from what I hear. I would have loved to see/hear what you saw.

Re: 2014 srt8
well i was stuck in traffic yesterday so i decided to pay a visit to my dealership that sold me my SRT8 back in nov 09. as soon as i walked in and saw the sales rep- he remembered me and said wheres the SRT8--its outside.

so im just hanging around cause im that bored and traffic is still backed up outside so i decide to sit inside the new 300SRT8!!! wow- WEEE! yeah.. that was nice. even nicer is that they let me start it up and play with the new 8 inch screen and i loved the onscreen options and etc.
(funny situation before i even got close to the 300SRT8)-- the big dog was out of the office from the back and said whos jeep SRT8 is out there- lolz. anyways fast forward 5 minutes and the sales rep is looking for the key to start the 300 SRT8 in the back of the lot. the sales rep asks the big dog "wheres the key to the 300?" he says why, why do u need it. he says i got a guy here whos knows about the SRT8 line- dont worry. the guy then looks at me and says to the rep- if its for him, then ok. he OWNS a SRT8 so its ok for him to get the key. only cause he has one and knows what the SRT8 is. we dont let everyone touch the key to that car.
cant lie- that felt good. forget that though, the 300SRT8 was badass. too bad it didnt have the darker color wheels.

and right before im leaving the place, i get approached by this guy in the lot. he asks me what would i do... buy the v6 or get the v8 limited? i told him for the couple miles of savings per gallon with the v6-- it doesnt have the power of the v8 that you will want more often than not so i would get the v8 man. after explaining it a bit more, he agreed with me and bought a 2012 limited in black.

and last but not least, you know i educated the dealership reps with whats actually going on with the hold up on the new SRT8s and whats been echoing around the forums the last few weeks. all of their orders are scheduled to arrive in the second week of november. i told him i just want to see this new one in black in person, thats all. he tells me hell call me when it comes in and i can check it out and all that jazz- but i obviosuly i cant drive it unless he/she cancels his/her order by then.;)

If I didn't have to deal with snow. I'd get a white one with the black chrome. At least until 2015 WK 2 s/c version comes out with same display/navigation and 8 speed.

You know how many grand ma cars turned into dragstrip monsters? Grand National comes to mind. Really a Buick Regal. And countless others. And by the Way, we drive glorified minivans!
