Front axel issue on 98 ZJ 4x4
I finally got the transmission replaced on my 98 GC and it runs and drives great now:), however after the mechanic reinstalled the front driveshaft, the front axel makes this knocking sound when turning the wheel and it growls pretty loud going down the road, so I had to pull the driveshaft back out. the mechanic checked fluid level and it was ok but had metal shavings in it. it looks like it may need to be rebuilt, which seems premature as the jeep only has 120k miles. Has this happened to you guys at this low of milage?
Re: Front axel issue on 98 ZJ 4x4
Didnīt have it, but wear not only depends on the milage of the car, but a lot on regular fluid changes and never letting the level go down. So 120k miles is premature, but it can have several reasons.
