4 tires in cargo area?

So this weekend, I'm taking a trip from Vancouver to Washington State to pick up some snow tires. I'm wondering if anyone has fit 4 tires into the cargo area before and how much room was left over. From my math, it should just fit...

to make some extra room, I'm planning on taking out my spare and shoving one of the 4 tires down there. I'm curious because we're going to have 4 ppl in the car so I won't be able to fold down the rear seat.

Done that, not much room left but enough for some luggage.

Did you have to put the seats down?

I did it with just the small side folded down. I think you'll be fine if you put one in the spare compartment, though.

I fit 4 37x13.5" Mud grapplers in a WK so I don't see why you couldn't

Thanks guys. Just didn't want to be 200kms away from home and have to either leave my tires behind or strand one of my family members on the side of the hwy. Can you believe I'm saving $70/tire (30%) buying in the USA instead of Canada? Something wrong with our stores/taxes/duties up here.

Cool!
More info... are you getting winter tires, and wheels?
From some place like the Tire Rack?

(just wondering if I should look at doing something similar - ie driving down to Buffalo, and picking up a set)

I guess I'd have to declare them at the border though....
