About to give up on my WK2

Though I havent posted a ton on here I have been a follower for about a year now. I found this website to be super helpful in the purchase process and beyond and wanted to thank everyone for all the knowledge on the WK2.

After having my 2011 Overland 4x4 V8 for about a year I am looking into getting rid of it. The main reason I was drawn towards the jeep was because of all the new luxury features and its new look. The problem is I have a lot of "little" problems. By themselves they arent that big of a deal but they start to add up quickly when you remind yourself that you paid 45k for this thing.

These are some of the problems I have had:
right rear tail light out for a couple days then comes back
service 4 wheel drive light has come on twice. A day later it turns off
not remembering my seat setting and have to reprogram (once a month)
not detecting my wifes fob, she doesnt drive the car that often but when she does it will have all my settings not hers (even though I am not in the car)
sat. radio once a month or so will "updating channels" and when it does this it will do it 2-3 times in a row so you will have no radio for 5 min or so.
Heat can be on full blast with it only blowing on the feet and the car will warm up but the area by the feet is freezing (Im guessing some poor insulating of that area)
When heat is set to defrost windshield it still blows a good amount of air out of the upper "face" vents
The panic alarm has randomly gone off 3 times in the last couple of weeks
This only happened one time but it was raining and there was a couple drops of water that fell on my hand while on the gear shifter. It came from the the windshield around the rear view mirror

With all that said I do want to point out the things I still love about the jeep. First, is the look inside and out. The outside is what I like to call "mean" looking and the inside is luxury. Still one of the best looking trucks out there. I will also say that I have nothing but great things to say about the performance. IE the power from the V8 and the ability of the jeep to drive through anything you can encounter on the road. Never felt unsafe driving through any amount of snow.

I guess that is about it. Again I would like to thank everyone for all of the knowledge I gained from this forum.

I feel the same way, just ordered a 2012 Ford Raptor Supercrew as I am sick of the constant rattles and little issues all the time.

That Raptor is a nice looking truck. Are you getting rid of the Overland? Were they able to get your issues resolved? I know what you mean about the constant little problems and rattles. Its funny I read on here about all the other people having the same issues as me, but whenever I take it to the dealer I hear how I am the first one to ever have a problem with these wk2's. This is my second one the first one was a Limited that spent 3 months in and out of the shop before I worked a deal to trade it for this Overland. The Overland doesn't have any major problems, but it has been in the shop for repair 3 or 4 times in six months and is going in this week for another intermediate shaft. I like the Jeep and will keep it, but I have learned a good lesson and I will never ever under any circumstances buy a first year model of any brand again EVER.

I think every make has an issue now and again. My neighbor has had nothing but problems with his Raptor Supercrew, in the shop more often than not. It was disappointing on the trail in spite of the Ford marketing push. But there are fans that swear by them. He is looking to trade it off and return to a GMC. It is nice to have some choices, hope you have better luck than my neighbor... maybe we'll see you back here in a year or so :) .

It's too bad that some WK2's have had these nagging problems. I don't think it's just a Jeep thing, as many owners of new domestic and imported brands, who I've talked to, have experienced problems. I almost feel guilty that my 11 month old GC has been flawless.

Yes, cancelled my extended service contract friday and going to get rid of the Jeep, they can't seem to fix the rattle in the steering column and say other's are doing it so it could be normal. Also the passenger seat rattles all the time and overall just doesn't feel like a well built solid vehicle.

My Brother has a 2010 Raptor SuperCab and has had zero issues in almost 2 year's and he is not easy on vehicle's, I hope I have the same luck. As for the Jeep with all the issues the it has had in the first 6 months I can't imagine it long term.

My business partner has a Raptor Supercrew and hasnt had a single issue. Way different vehicle than the wk2 though. Weve had our WK2 for almost 6 months now with no issues, but it also only has about 6k on the clock so we shall see how it holds up.

My Wrangler Unlimited has been in twice in about a year, once for a leaky diff and once for a dead navradio.

Honestly the rattles are the worst. I'm ok with a fix it once kind of repair. I'm not okay with rattles that come and go. I have three that I'm battling. Dealer can't seem to recreate them. ......and the there's the shaky steering wheel that is claimed to be normal.

I have to say that yes it is a Jeep thing ... but what adds gasoline to the fire is the dealers and the simple lack of customer service and inability to fix the issues that come up. So insted of fixing them they get other vehicles that have similar issues and say .. "Presto" thats how it should be.

And I have to say its going to be hard to sell the Jeep-- I have a few interested parties ... selling a 2011 Overland Summit with OWII and new tires -- 8K miles, purchased for 45K selling for 37,500-- I guess the word is out that the vehicles are problem ridden. I may just have to keep this car if I cant get out of it for at least 36K that leaves me 9K upsidedown. What a nightmere. Good luck all

I'm sorry (and concerned!) to here of these issues.

I'm running very hot and cold on this vehicle. I feel some people, myself included, expect virtually faultless vehicles in this day and age, and Jeep may be struggling to realise those expectations.

I guess we need to ask ourselves if the better "feature value" we get from a Jeep is worth the (mostly) niggling issues?

I think the point is that if you are willing to pay a manufacture 40k-60k for a new top of the line vehicle it should be top of the line always. The dealers should stand behind that product. Otherwise confidence is lost in the product. Then fewer and fewer people visit showrooms. Pretty soon people are gonna ask: "What's a Jeep?"
