Metric or Imperial MPG display details ?

My UK spec 2004 2.7crd allows either metric or Imperial display on the overhead consul. But does the MPG figure allow for a US gallon at 7 imperial pints or a UK gallon of 8 imperial pints ?

Thanks

The silly thing is that they call it English units. Luckily we is Oz went metric years ago. Miles per gallon is not consistent anyway. If you are still measuring your car's power in ye olde horses, then your fuel consumption should be measured in furlongs per bushel

interesting, my understanding is that left hand drive vehicles displayed in US gallons, right hand drive vehicles displayed in imperial gallons.
