My JGC vs a Deer

A deer decided to run through 2 lanes of traffic over a median and into the front of my jeep. It was getting dark and didn't even see the deer coming from the woods on other side. The deer didn't suffer and died instantly, I told the cop I was sorry I couldn't find the outer fender, he said dont worry about it, its inside the deer :(.
Here are the pics, also I think my washer fluid container got a hole in it and thats the little bit of fluid on road in second picture, I will know better tomorrow.

Deer in NJ are as plentiful as rats and about as welcome. The problem is that a lot of NJ is so densely populated it's simply impossible to get far enough from occupied structures to safely discharge a firearm (into Bambi.)

With all of the natural predators long gone, no hunting, and lots of people's shrubs and gardens to eat, the only thing controlling the deer population is automobiles.

I visit NJ a lot (on business) and am always astounded at the number of deer carcasses by the side of the road.

I was doing about 53mph speed limits 50 on this road, I called it in to the police and gave them enough time to do something with the meat.I just saw the cop drag it onto the median, I don't know if they have a company or someone that picks it up. Most people here dont call in the hits they just leave the deer, its kind of sad alot of meat goes to waste if they dont do anything.

I'll second the above.

My father once totalled his 1980 Buick Park Avenue by hitting a large deer.
In his case, while waiting for the tow truck, he asked the cops about what will happen with the deer carcass.
The cops said he would take it before someone else did. (high demand)

You fared a lot better than my Jeep did. I smacked it, messed up the whole front end and the deer still had to be shot

In aptly named Bucks County, we are overrun with these oversized rodents. Sooner or later nearly everybody around here clobbers one -- twice for us.

When I hit one with our Benz sedan, it went into the windshield. It appears that your critter went underneath or got knocked to the side. It'll be interesting to see if this is the norm with the WK2, which hopefully is high enough and flat enough in the front so that the beast doesn't wind up as a windshield ornament.

Even then, there is so much slope to the windshield that the deer likely would slide over it and onto or past the pano roof. Sure beats sharing your front seat with a deer and shards of glass.

A course it was only a split second but, If I remember right before the hit, the deers shoulders were just a little bit above the front of the hood. Being that the bumper has a good lead before the hood I think if I had hit the deer in the middle the front bumper would have pushed the deer under truck rather then it being able to ride up. A large buck though anythings possible.
