Need some help from the experts!
Hi, have a quick question. How hard would it be to get the same push start feature on a 2011 RAM 1500? My wife bought me one in September and I still have yet to see or drive it as I'm still in Afghanistan. Some of the guys on the Ram fourm are askin how hard it would be to get the same push start like we have in our GC's. ONe guy did push in the FOB hold nad the EVIC did recognize the action but didnt know what to do. Is this possibly a feature that just needs to be unlocked on the computer or will it just not work. Remember the SRT-10 RAMs al have push start also. Thanks everyone.

Not sure but I believe you could look into some after market stuff. Your best bet would be to ask your dealer or some shops that work with this kinda stuff.

I think the ram could easily do it if it's available on the srt10.

Though I've never been a fan of push start. Just more costs to deal with if things go wrong with it. It's a nifty feature but I don't see it as such a big issue. That's just my opinion though. Hope someone can help ya out here on the forum.

A friend of mine has a 1500 and he has looked into it. The push button would not be an issue but it requires a start module for it recognize the push button function. From what he said there are some aftermarket guys that are working on it but it isn't done.

Re: Need some help from the experts!

So if it is a start module then why doesnt Chryco/Dodge/RAM offer it from the Jeep line or 300 or other line that has this with the 5.7 Hemi? Should be a easy module right?

Umm as far as I remember, I saw a 5.7 hemi JGC 2011 in the showroom with push start when I was putting the reservation/fee payment on mine. I could be mistaken though.

Re: Need some help from the experts!

Right that is in my JGC Overland "Summit" just wanted to know how hard or if possible to get it in my 2011 RAM 1500 Sport with the 5.7L Hemi? SHould be exactly the same or close to it as I have the same tranny in the truck as the Jeep just a different transfer case. But in the truck people have pushed in the key area just like on the JGC's and the EVIC does recognise that you pushed it in but does not know what to do with the command.

Re: Need some help from the experts!
Okay, I've done some research on several Forums.

It turns out one gentleman has claimed to have a push start on his 2011 ram 1500 but had failed to provide proof or knowledge behind how it was done. All he said was "the dealer hooked me up" and did not provide any proof or knowledge or reference to how it was done or that it was actually done.

Now, to my understanding on several forums - the system for the dodge ram 1500 does not allow for a push start. But, I think there is an upcoming application that will allow remote start via smart phones which could be something interesting to look into.

It will at least allow you to start your car from a distance and let it warm up/cool down during the summer/winter. I would assume the application will be similar to the onstar app for the GM vehicles.

I also understand Mopar app will allow for this with Jeeps! (Not sure whether or not it has been released or is still under development or a rumor). It's a nifty feature but still don't find it something to base purchasing a vehicle on.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I doubt you'll have push-start for the 2011 Ram 1500 unless someone is able to crack the system.

This forum seems to be very helpful for rams. Subscribe to the post and see what happens, maybe someone will figure it out in the near future. Until then you can do 3 things.

1) Forget about the push start
2) Wait for someone to crack it
3) Research and invest in a way to figure it out

I wish you the best of luck in any of the three choices you decide to take.

Hope this was helpful, if anyone else could shed some light on something I may have missed out, please feel free.
