Remote Start....

Alright guys, im having some ideas. Iv got some money to spend on the jeep, and im torn between a few things, one of which is a Viper 5301 remote start.
The first question I have goes like this lol... the little hoops on my key fobs both broke the same week, so I cant hook them to a key ring, ANNOYING! Is there a way to fix this?
And second, I know there is a 50$ interface modual that I need if I get the viper installed. But how hard/would I work with my 05 Lorado 4.7? Anyone have experience with it? A few people I worked with at best buy had them and love them.

there are thousands on ebay lol you will have to have your key cut again, but you keep your electronics so no reprogramming is needed.

Does the dealer have to cut the key

The remote start will need a few items to function properly.

You'll need an Audiovox FLCAN or Xpresskit DB-ALL. Both can be had on amazon for roughly $45. Both will also need to be flashed with specific firmware to your vehicle.

Id reccommend a professional install the remote starter. The grand cherokees are some of the most difficult wiring wise to handle for a remote starter. They are also VERY picky for some reason.

Feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions you may have. I've been an installer for 7 years.

You an installer for best buy? Just going by ur profile pic lol. If I get the viper, they also sell the other kit you need for these, and once installed are they reliable? Or touchy like you said?

If installed properly they are very reliable. Bestbuy does offer a lifetime labor guarentee and Viper comes with a Lifetime warrenty on the brain. As long as you dont chew on the remote controls you should be fine.

Just make sure to ask the proper questions ahead of time. How long has he been installing, have they ever done a grand cherokee. Things like that, i can tell you from experience, the first one you do makes you scratch your head a little bit.

i have never had to have a key cut, but i am sure any hardware store will just charge a small fee to cut one that you provide.
