MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
I apologize ahead of time if this exists but I couldn't exactly locate this post if it exists with the search feature.

Having said that, my question is with regard to the MDS and exhaust systems.

For those of you who have a non OEM exhaust system, have you faced any issues with hums or noice when the vehicle is active in MDS? I've read somewhere that the MDS could possibly affect the sound of the exhaust considering hum or a non-natural exhaust noise (I forget what it's called).

Anyone able to shed some light on this? If it's true, any ways around it?

Thanks guys! Again I apologize if I have missed out on a thread that discusses this.

Yes I have the same question, the MDS "drone".
I am looking at a Borla exhaust, and travel long distance every week 5hrs stints with MDS active all the way.
Is the drone annoying, nuisance?

Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
This was the key selling point for me with corsa. I have driven 1500 miles with and can say at average highway speed 70>80 MPH you can't tell that MDS is active. Cruise low speeds It a little more pronounced. It all comes down to the exhaust you choose.

Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
I'm looking for the least amount of drone, if possible near 0% drone. If worst comes to worst I can turn off MDS, fuel here is absolutely dead cheap compared to the world. I pay about $20-$25 to fill up my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder 3.6L from empty to full on 93 octane.

I don't really know much about borla or corsa or magnaflow really simply because I've never used em. I've always gone for the OEM exhausts in the past. So if anyone could shed some light on the differences of the differ exhaust systems and their performance with the MDS on, that would be wonderful.

Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
I bought the corsa exhaust for the same reasons you noted. Even with the stock exhaust I could hear MDS. The corsa is a tad louder, but nothing annoying. I just did a 600 mile road trip this weekend and the passengers couldn't even tell I had an exhaust in until I punched it on the freeway to pass a few cars.... and what a beautiful noise this thing makes when wide open. Quiet while crusing, beastly when passing, great combo of an exhaust.

After five years with an Infiniti FX35, I can't hear the MDS engaging or disengaging over all of the quiet in my Jeep. :)

I have the corsa also and it's the best sound and comfort when cruising but when you get on it you know it's a hemi

I need to convince my better half that her new WK2 needs a new exhaust...

Anyone have the Mopar/Corsa part number for the HEMI? Thanks

Mopar P5155931
Corsa 14457

From my understanding, they are the same systems. The Mopar version may have a Mopar emblem on the tips instead of an etched Corsa emblem. At least that is the only difference my GM Performance "Corsa" exhaust had vs. the Corsa branded Tahoe system.

Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
I have the borla kit installed. The MDS drone is significant around 1200 RPM. I have not heard the corsa system, but from everything I have read, they made the system a little quieter than the borla kit in favor of less drone. That said, if you have the stereo on, its not too hard to tune it out.

Re: MDS Vs. Exhaust (Hemi Owners)
Thanks for all the info guys! I'm actually thinking of Corsa for the future. For now I'm gonna stick stock but I'll probably jump to Corsa. I like subtle exhausts that scream when pushed but are at a quiet rumble when idle or cruising. Frydryce: you pretty much sealed the deal when you told me that, did some more research and lovin it!
