05 Grand Cherokee Trans filter
Hey all new to the forum and just purchased a 05 Gr. Cherokee laredo 4.7. I was looking at the sites and getting ready to change all of the fluids and noticed a screw on tranny filter advertised.

Does our jeeps have two filters? Our jeep just turned 110,000 and the fluid looks good but I would like to give it a change.

Re: 05 Grand Cherokee Trans filter
Yup. Sump filter + spin on return line filter. I recommend OEM filters. They cost me around $65 for the set, but there was some kind of valve update on one of the filters from the earlier versions. I don't cheese out on quality products for my vehicles.

The spin on filter is the updated part. Make sure you get the AC or later version(ABs had a drain back issue) of the filter, most current p/n is 05179267AC however 4799662AC will work just as well. The sump filter referenced above is generally referred to as the flat filter if the parts guy asks. At that mileage I would also recommend you replace both filters(even if the spin on is an AC p/n)

Any other tips or things to check as I make this my own! it just turned 110,000 Laredo with the 4.7 (already have new copper plugs)
