doing engine work will i need a tune? right away

as my other thread states i am doing a head gasket. my question is can i pnp the heads and exh. manifold and do 4.7L HO cams and not have to tune? or what is the process on a chrysler. or what can i do to my 02 4.7L as i have the motor torn apart?

Stock tune will suffice although you should look into getting a datalogger and SCT so you can get a custom tune.

Best thing to do would be HO cams or one of the regrinds, port the heads, and whatever can be done with the manifolds. IIRC there is some meat to them. 08 manifold is a nice piece but you'll need a tune for all that. My 4.7 with manifold back exhaust, 08 manifold, intake and stock cams was fine on stock tune, but anything else and it would have been lean up top.

Sadly I do not, maybe one of these days I will dabble with SCT but I don't feel the demand is there. The fact that it has no datalogging built in really makes it an inferior product, but its the only real option.
