What offset wheels and size of tire for the OME lift?

Looks like I will be getting the OME lift. I would like to get new wheels as well. I like the AEV Pintlers but am not sure what backspacing I need. (if you could, please use the mm offset like AEV uses.)

Also, what is the largest tire I can fit and what brand of MT are people using these days (I have been in Iraq for the past 5.5 years and am a bit rusty:) )

Well the off road section has alot better info on this. I hav ebeen reading more and more about it as my interests have been turning more and more to lifting my jeep.

I see alot of guys on there running 255/265. Just depends if you want to do a spacer and or the pinch weld mod for clearance at full lock.

Now again I have never done this but thats is what i have read. There is alot of guys out there running the OME lift and there will be more informative then me.

Those AEV are sharp man really nice wheels. Little pricey for my ATM card at the moment but very nice. Good luck and check out the off road section you will find plenty of answers in there.

Re: What offset wheels and size of tire for the OME lift?

I have 255/75/17 BFG KM1 on stock wheels and no spacers but.......you will have to cut the bolt and they will only rub the back side of the steel frame at full lock (literally the last turn of the wheel).

I never turn my steering wheel at full lock with rub or no rub because I don't like to stress the power steering pump.

Now, when you put offset on those tires with Pintlers, you're going to hit the pinch weld. The further out you bring the tire, the more pinch you'll hit.

The other size is 265/70/17. Offset with Pintlers and you'll hit the pinch (with MT's for sure).

You can go as much as 285/70/17. That's the route I'm going next if I decide to put that much money in to my 3.7. Then folding the pinch will definately be needed along with some backspacing ( I hate wheel spacers but really want 285/70/17 KM2).

My opinion:

255/75/17 KM1
265/70/17 KM2
285/70/17 KM2

I know that Omelet had 285/70/17 with a 1/4" spacer and Moabs that give additional backspacing. I do not recall him having problems. I think he has the same tires. I know he has the same size for sure.

Im lookin at some options as well with OME... im lookin at the 2" lift though.. will it work fine with aev pintlers and what tire size? am i gonna need spacers to NOT rub. and if i put 1.5" coil spacers, am i gonna have to do any mods to the engine or driveline to support the size change?

You can use Pintlers. They give enough backspacing so wheel spacers will not be needed. However, I think with the amount of backspacing they give, you will need to do the pinch weld mod.

That's with 265/70/17's.

A memeber here posted pics of his. He used a heat gun to mold it flush with the moded pinch.

And it look so clean and stock.
