Bluetooth Issues

Anyone having issues with phone connecting with bluetooth. I have a 703N (RER) and a DroidX and everytime I get in the car and make a call it does not connect through to the phone. This only happens on the first call. If I redial the call it connects normally and works fine until I start the car again. I updated the UConnect software eariler this year and have the latest Android OS from Verizon. I have deleted the paring and repaired the phone, but it has not helped. Any thoughts?

Did you try rebooting your phone? My buddy has the same problem in his 2011 Porsche Cayenne S. He tried repairing, he tried everything. It happened after he updated to iOS5. I understand that you're on a droid and not an iphone but it may be the same basic issue. Try turning off your phone and leaving it off for a minute and then restart and repair your phone. It worked for my friend, it may just work for you.

I have an iPhone and it works like a charm. A buddy of mine has a Droid and has the same issue. He hasn't been able to resolve it.

Re: Bluetooth Issues

Is it really the first call or is it the Bluetooth handshake delay? My wife's phone takes thirty seconds to connect to the car radio. Try waiting until you see the phone icon.

It is always on the first call. The handshake goes through and I can see the unit downloading the phone book before I make a call.

Umm maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but try waiting for it to finish downloading the phone book before you make the call.

No I always wait for the system to load itself including the phone book. It happens after.

On my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2), it's WIFI interference. WIFI and Bluetooth are on the same frequency and I guess the phone software isn't smart enough to disable one when using the other.

When WIFI is enabled, I get horrible breaking up audio on the first call and then slightly better after that (I guess the phone "learns). So now, before I hop in the Jeep, I disable WIFI and take off. Works like a charm.

This makes loads of sense, since Wi-Fi and Bluetooth both occupy a section of the 2.4 GHz ISM that is 83 MHz. So there will likely to be interference. Usually the bluetooth will hop around different different channel widths as the wi-fi will usually remain focused on one (FHSS Vs. DSSS) but depending on signal strengths they can cause interference.

Actually, now that DGipson has brought that up, it makes a lot of sense. Give it a shot and let us know what happens.

I have a Samsung Stratosphere (Android) and I am having problems as well, nearly always with the first call. I went into the Jeep Dealership, as my car is under warranty, and their answer was that it was the Samsung. I'm having difficulty with that response, as my Samsung works perfectly with all other Bluetooth equipment.
