24000km service.

Just in case anyones interested had the 24k service today, reminder came on at 23k, anyway, it cost $370 using full synthetic oil, wheel rotation etc, and even got a wash and vacuum... Gotta be happy with that.... The 48k one will be a different story.... Still loving my Jeep!

Yeah, that was at my local dealer, 12k was about the same price.... Yup 12k intervals, least for the hemi anyway....

Re: 24000km service.

The 3 Litre diesel is every 10,000 Km which is a pain. The same diesel in Europe is twice this at 20,000KM.

Re: 24000km service.

UK CRD's are 12,000km, not 20.
We just have crap diesel fuel or some other BS that makes our cars cost more.

Actually, according to the Jeep UK website under specifications, performance & economy, insurance and servicing, the UK diesels are every 12,500 miles which equates to 20,000 kms. I still fail to appreciate why our servicing interval is half theirs, unless Jeep see Australia as a servere operating environment, maybe because of the Heat? Don't know, however Mercedes and BMW seem to have no problem with 20k services on their vehicles in Australia.

Just had a look at Jeep Middle East, where one would think that operating conditions could be similar to Aussie conditions (outback).
Their service interval is 13,000 klm.
However, when you look at the downloadable owner's manual (2012), they do not reference the diesel motor. They only show the 3.6 and hemi.

Re: 24000km service.

I would have thought that Middle East conditions would be worse then Australia, however I have never been there so I do not know. The quality of Diesel in Australia has traditionally been quite poor compared to other nations however I was under the impression that the quality has improved significantly over the last 5 years. Maybe that is not the case and our diesel is still poor.

However, why then does the Mercedes M class diesel have a service interval of 25,000 kms (or at least the 2010 model did) for Australia?

Re: 24000km service.

Doh!!! I saw the 12,000 and just assumed they would be using metric.
You would think based on the other markets that 20,000km is about right.

Re: 24000km service.

Farout, even if the service intervals were 25000km in the book I don't think I could leave the oil in that long.... change it between services, maybe the synthetic oils nowdays are that good, but surely it must get dirty, lose its viscosity after a bit....

Re: 24000km service.

Everything depends of use. Me personally do oil change every 10000 km and service 20000 as stated in manual. Simple reason: off-road.
