Dealer called, Jeep is finally in! [Updated: Initial Review]

Thanks a ton to Jon @ Baxter. He sent me a few pics the moment they got it into the garage. They're FedEx-ing me the paperwork and should have it in a week or so.

One thing that surprised them were the amount of miles on it... 18 right off the truck. Hoping this means it was driven around and the contaminated fluid has been fixed.
Oh, yeah, it's dirrrrrty. Told them not to wash it and don't take the plastic off :-) I wanna unwrap this present!

Congrats, you got the right color. Good call not letting them wash and swirl it up.

Re: Dealer called, Jeep is finally in! [Updated: Initial Review]

I've managed to rack up 1,111 miles within a week and two days.
I purchased my jeep from Jon @ Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Lincoln, NE. The purchase process blew me away. It was the most hassle-free experience I've ever had purchasing a vehicle. Well, aside from the foooreevvverrr wait for it to get built and delivered. He even informed me about the price protection about 2 hours before it was made public by Milous. I'd have to look up the paperwork for the exact number, but I was at $58k with every option except rear DVD (chose pano roof instead).
On a whim, a buddy and I decided to fly out to NE and drive it back. What better way to learn about a new ride than to spend 12 hours in it, right? :-)
I'm 5'9" and my buddy is well over 6'. He had many great things to say about the ergonomics and the comfort. While sitting in any seat for 12 hours would get old, neither of us could really complain about the overall comfort of these seats.
Had a full tank of gas from the dealer which landed us halfway home in Walcott, IA, home of the World's Largest Truck stop! That place is huge. Ended up going over 760 miles on two tanks of gas… coming out to about 380 miles per tank, although we didn't drive until empty, which is a good thing because there's gas stations out there that don't have premium!
In the 12 hours, the SRT audio was definitely tested -pretty darn good! I'm quite surprised how good the Sirius/XM sounds. My previous car has XM and sounded flat and more like AM radio. We made it from Cincinnati, Ohio to Lincoln, Nebraska and back in 22 hours.
There is definitely the drone from the MDS. For me I think it's livable, especially when you hear the normal open exhaust note. I'm pretty happy with it and don't think I'll change the exhaust at all.

Two words. Brake Dust.

In the days since, I'm still in "new car love". As someone else mentioned, I tend to get buyer's remorse on auto purchases, but not with this ride. Friday night the wife and I met some of my co-workers out at Dave & Buster's. They all wanted to see it and take a ride. Including me, there were 5 passengers. Got on an empty drive next to the parking lot and jokingly told them to hold on. Got a few "whatever, just go". Floored it for 'em and let's just say there were a few expletives used, smiles and some shock. They also thought the Pano roof was slick and surprised to find the rear heated seats and the 110v outlet.

I've tried the Selec-Track and on a slightly bumpy road, there's a big difference between "Auto" and "Track". Auto feels like a "normal" truck and Track feels like the tires are metal, not rubber. Unfortunately I haven't done much more testing with that yet. I'm quite surprised how solid this beast feels -especially around turns. It's so glued to the asphalt it's amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles in snow.
I did notice some "tracking" of the tires on some of the grooved sections of the highway around here. Not sure how you'd prevent that with rubber this wide.

I haven't used the paddles too much yet, but initial reaction is that down-shifting provides less drag than I thought it would and doesn't slow the vehicle down a whole lot. My previous car I could come down an off-ramp and go from 60 to 15-20mph with just down-shifting… course, maybe that's why I had to have the tranny replaced at 30k miles. I will definitely try the paddles out more.

I plan on doing tint hopefully this week. Can't decide if ceramic is worth the extra $ or not. I want something with great heat reflectivity and will never turn purple.
Maybe down the road I'll take care of some of the chrome and some de-badging. Would like to get a nice wash and a sealant and wax on it before we get some snow and road salt everywhere.

The combination of the LEDs, HIDs and fogs are quite distinctive and causes a fair share of "What is that???"… I love it! Haven't had anyone try to test their fate against it yet, but I'm sure it will happen in due time. I mean come on, it's just a big, slow SUV, right? ;-)
