Brief Explanation:
This is a step by step with pictures on how to install the factory fog lights on a 2005-2009 Grand Cherokee (WK). The instructions from the factory are very vague and don't go into very good detail.

Tools Needed:
- T15 Torx Screw Driver
- T20 Torx Screw Driver
- Small Phillips Screw Driver
- 10mm wrench

Parts Needed:
If you buy the Mopar kit, all of these parts will be included in that kit. I got my parts from a wrecked '06 Grand Cherokee (WK) for 1/2 what the Mopar Kit cost.

- 2x Fog Light Assemblies
- 1x Headlight Multi-Function Switch w/ Fog Light Switch
- 1x Fog Light Relay (Mopar Part #: 4671168E)
- 1x 20A Mini Fuse

Steps:
1. Start by unhooking the negative battery cable with the 10mm wrench.

2. Install the Fog Light Relay into spot 25 in the under hood power distribution box.

6. Slid the new Multi-Function Switch into the steering column. Before re-installing the screws, make sure it functions properly by turning the headlights on/off and the turn signals on/off. Once you know it functions properly, re-install the 2 screws using the T15 Torx Screwdriver.

7. Re-install the steering column trim. Be sure to put the 2 longer black screws on either side across from each other. The smaller grey screw is the odd ball closest to the driver.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...l/DSCF0038.jpg

8. Remove the black plastic fillers from the front bumper. You will have to push on the tabs on the inside of the bumper to get them to come out.

9. Slide the fog light assembly into position. While holding the fog light assembly into place, screw in the 2 screws from the inside of the bumper using the T20 Torx Screw Driver. If you don't have the factory screws, any screw and washer of the same size will work.

10. Install the new bulb into the fog light assembly. Remove the wiring harness plug from its holder and plug it into the fog light assembly.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...l/DSCF0050.jpg

11. Repeat step 10 for the opposite side.

12. Using a T20 Torx Screw Driver, adjust the fog lights to desired position. Be sure they are not aimed too high or they will blind on coming motorist.

13. Now schedule an appointment with a local dealership to have them program the PCM to activate the relay when the fog light switch is in the on position.

If I install the new multifunction switch, but then don't get it programmed right away, will I still be able to turn on my regular headlights?

EDIT: got board and found out for myself

great post.. I've been meaning to install my fogs.. havent had the time.. then went to do it yesterday and didnt have a T20 torx.. DOH!:o

Hopefully I can borrow a T20 and get it done this weekend...

just to be clear, I'm not gonna accidentally deploy my airbag as long as the negative battery is unhooked, right??
I've heard that can happen... would like to avoid that.

As long as the negative battery cable is unhooked, no the air bag will not deploy.

Re: How-To: Install Fog Lights in a 2005-2009 WK

Just wanted to clear a couple things up in this How-To...

I just installed fogs in my 08 and the 08 is slightly different... I'm assuming its 08-10s that will be like this...

First off, a question.. I installed the relay..no problem there.. NOW, when I went to install the fuse into 15... ummm, all my spots for the little mini yellow 20A fuses were all filled up already? seems odd bc my 08 didnt come with fogs, hence the install... so why would I have a fuse there already? Anyway, pulled the fuse out with some needlenoses' to check if it was a dummy.. it wasnt.. so not sure why the spots for fuses were already filled up but they were, so I just saved the extra fuse just in case.

Also, on an 08+.. when taking off the steering wheel cover.. you need a philips screwdriver.. not a torx.. and I would like to add a longer one at that, since you need to go up and get the screw. there are 3 of them.. to get them easier, especially the 3rd screw closest to the base of the wheel column... you need to just pry down the hatch or door underneath (where your knees would be if sitting in seat)..this will allow you to get at that 3rd screw.. Also, the 2 part cover snaps into place..top and bottom so after those 3 screws are out.. just give the bottom wheel cover part a little wiggle and a yank. lol:p

Multifunction switch is now exposed and slides out as said... but there is only one screw on the switch that needs to come out in the 08+, not two. then unplug the switch, slide the new one in and replug... screw that 1 screw back on.. make sure the turn signals, headlights both low and hi's work.. and that the hi beam signal shows on dash... and then just snap the 2 part cover back on into place and rescrew the 3 steering wheel cover screws in with the philips...

go under, pop out the black plastic fog light covers, and when installing the fogs.. youll now need that T15 torx now for the 4 screws.. (2 on each side) then youre done.. you can adjust the fogs like stated.

so you need :
2 foglamps with housing along with the 4 screws and washers
multifunction switch with fog
relay
fuse
T15 Torx..
and a long armed philips screwdriver

the fogs still wont work though after install.
you need to go to a dealer like stated to get them programmed through starscan.. AKA.. get your wallet ready.

I'm at this point now.. taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning..picking up after work. called 4 dealers.. cheapest price is $80 to plug into starscan and activate the fogs. Its sickening ... :wtf: it only takes 2 minutes and they charge you this much.... BUT it needs to be done.

and then you're all good and have fogs.
