A-Pillar Leak

Hello Guys, Its been a long time since I have been on, but anyways today was like a monsoon outside. Pouring rain all day. So on my way to work this morning some drop of water kept catching my eye, I just couldn't tell if its inside or out. So when I got to work I noticed moisture around the top bolt of the driver side A-pillar. I watched it for about 10 minutes and noticed several drops coming out of that area. I didn't have a small screw driver to pry open the little cover so there was nothing I could do at the moment. I did feel the headrest and all around but it was only wet in that area. So after work when I got into the jeep there was a couple of drops of water right under the heating vent (directly below the bolt hole). When I was driving home it seemed the water coming into the hole was more intense and was dripping in every few minutes. I unfortunately park outside at home too (although I stole the garage tonight). When I got home I was able to pop off the little bolt cover and there was some water in there but not much (from what I can see).

So what do you guys think it is? sunroof drain?

2005 WK, 4.7L with sunroof, Windshield replaced about 20k miles ago (give or take)

Thanks,

Tell us what it ends up being. This is also helpful for others so I'll let this thread stay up.

Consider cleaning your Sunroof Drains and the drains new your windshield wipers on the corner ends of the bottom of the windshield (best I can describe).

I got an air compressor and blew all the gunk out. No leaks so far!

I noticed the drain in the plastic at the bottom of the windshield yesterday. It was half plugged with some gunk. This morning before I leave for work I am going to blast the sunroof drains and those drains with compressed air. I was just worried that the line might rupture if I used the compressed air. I will report back if this helps at all.

what did you end up doing to fix this problem? I am having the same problem but its also coming out of the home link box. I have had the car in to the dealership twice now and they cant make the leak happen even though it has leaked on me twice now. Ive cleaned out the drains and checked the seals but have had no luck stopping the leak.

Re: A-Pillar Leak

Sorry it took so long to post, but It has been through some heavy downpours since I "fixed" it and no leaks.

So the first thing I did was I took a rag and cleaned the best I could under the black vertical trim piece that runs along the outside of the windshield. I then looked at the cowl and the drain holes there were semi plugged, so I just used a toothpick and cleaned those out. I then took a can of compressed air with the little straw attachment and blasted the two drain holes in the sunroof for about 15 seconds each.

I think I am just going to do this every month as preventive maintenance.

Knock on wood but it seemed to stop the leak. I probably won't notice if the leak comes back until the spring though as winter is here.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Update...

Still leaking. I took the A-pillar off and noticed a few drops coming from the headliner area. Im going to see if I can find a shop to redo the damn drain hoses that Chrysler obviously messed up.

The sunroof has a bad habit of not closing correctly, always check that it is flush with the roof, if not open and close again until it is.

Yep I did that. I also just had it recalibrated this past summer when my extended warranty was expiring. I read through the other thread and tried most of it. I made an appointment with a local interior shop. for next Saturday. We will see what they say.
